Septarianism is a secular, scientifically grounded evolution of Humanism, Enlightenment, and Utopian ideas aimed at creating a high-functioning society through a structured, rational belief system. It could be viewed as a spiritual successor to Enlightenment raionalism, humanism, and transhumanist visions for a future society based on collective self-improvement and mutual benefit.
A brief overview is:
- It was created in 2025 by its British founder Guy Sloan, BEng(Hons) MSc. to identify the value proposition of a mutually beneficial system of collective self improvement tenets in a 7 point belief system to logically create a high functioning society for the sole purpose of sharing meaningful experiences, relationships, growth, and contribution to the well-being of others.
- It respects all religions and common virtues without dwelling on religious dogma that divides.
- It values all ongoing efforts toward self-improvement, including the evolution of the systems themselves, rather than rigidly adhering to fixed constitutional principles. It also recognizes the importance of regular reflection and reassessment, employing the most effective tools and methods available at any given time.
- The 7 pointed star the Septagram, is a symbolic representation of the 7 core philosophical tenets.
- The 7 star cosmological constellation Ursa Major was chosen as a symbol. Often used for navigation and way-finding, akin to navigating the self improvement journey of life to achieve enlightenment through experience.
A common 7-pointed star can be drawn cursively and each point represents one of the following 7 pillars of the belief system:
- Metaphysical pillar - Septarianists strive to attain knowledge by reviewing the current scientific understanding the nature of reality, existence, and the fundamental nature of being. This includes causality, free will, quantum to cosmic order and chaos, the flow of time and universal dualities.
- Epistemological pillar - Septarianists strive to attain wisdom by applying knowledge and experience through education and a scientific approach in examining the nature, scope, and limits of knowledge, including justification, truth, and skepticism. Septarianists should analyse what knowledge is, how to acquire it, and the methods to be sure of what is known.
- Ethical pillar - Septarianists strive to attain morality and concern with what is right or wrong before making decisions, investigate the nature of moral values and their value in terms of social responsibility and duty for a high functioning society. Septarianists should value all life and genetic diversity in all shapes and forms, race, gender, religion, sex, age or orientation as fundamental and logical to the widest possible gene pool and humanities survival, including extension to the animal kingdom and nature.
- Septarianists recognise the "Seven deadly sins" as self damaging illogical traits of excess: Pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth.
- Septarianists recognises "Seven virtues" as self improving traits logically mutually beneficial for societal coexistence: Chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, humility.
- Aesthetical pillar - Septarianists should attain peace and share with others through the nature of relationships showing kindness through beauty and expression but also through music and art through natural geometric form and order. Septarianists should seek to design/proliferate and share therapeutic art/music, meditation and mindfulness for the joy of all.
- Logical pillar - Septarianists should reason and provide valid and researched reasoning and argumentation. Septarianists should approach problems using formal systems, fallacies, and the principles of deductive and inductive reasoning.
- Jurispolitical pillar - Septarianists should attain truth and question justice, rights, liberty, and the organization of society, legality. Septarianists should support charitable organisation and help those in need.
- Psychosomatic pillar - Septarianists should attain health through analysing the nature of their consciousness, mental states, and their relationship to the physical body. Septarianists should use a scientific approach with tried and tested methodologies for training to improve cognition and physical well being.
