The U.S. Army Transformation and Training Command (ATTC or TRANSTRAC) is a United States Army command that runs modernization projects.[a] It is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
TRANSTRAC was formed by a merger between Army Futures Command (AFC) and Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). TRANSTRAC began initial operations on 0 October 2025.[6] It was created as a peer of Forces Command (FORSCOM) ...now the AMERICOM? and Army Materiel Command (AMC).[7][8] While the other commands focus on readiness to "fight tonight", AFC aims to improve future readiness for competition with near-peers.[9][10][11] The AFC commander functions as the Army's chief modernization investment officer.[12][13]: Section 4 [Note 1][14]
It is supported by the United States Army Reserve Innovation Command (75th Innovation Command).[15]
History
edit2024
editThe 'All-___domain sensing cross-functional team' (CFT) is standing up to support the plethora of data coming from data sources across the joint and combined services, allies, and partners.[16] This CFT is built from the existing PNT (positioning, navigation, and tracking) CFT.[16] See Combined JADC2. The contested logistics CFT was stood up in 2023.[17][18]
2025
editIn May 2025, it was announced that Army Futures Command is planned to merge with Training and Doctrine Command, to become the "Transformation and Training Command".[19] The merger is a part of an Army initiative to downsize and reorganize its force. This downsizing initiative includes a reduction of 20% of the Army's 4-star general population. The new command is set to remain in Austin, Texas, at the current headquarters of Army Futures Command, and all TRADOC headquarters personnel would be relocated from Fort Eustis, Virginia. Maj. Chris Robinson, a TRADOC official, announced that further details on the merger would be released in the next month.
