Carlson Thow (Chinese: 陶佳诚; born 1993) is a Malaysian business executive who serves as Chief Executive Officer of Treasure Global Inc. (NASDAQ: TGL).[1][2][3] At the time of his appointment in June 2024, he was reported to be 31 years old.[2][3]
Early life and education
editThow was born in Kuala Lumpur in 1993 and attended Beaconhouse Sri Murni in Cheras, SMK Perimbun and SMK Taman Connaught. He earned a Bachelor of Laws from Northumbria University in 2014. In 2016, he completed both a Master of Laws at the University of Malaya and the Certificate in Legal Practice (Malaysia). He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and became a member of the Malaysian Bar in 2018.[1] He later completed a Master of Business Administration at Lancaster University in 2021.[1]
Career
editThow practiced corporate law with Martin Cheah & Associates before joining Zaid Ibrahim & Co. (ZICO Law), then Malaysia’s largest private law firm, as a senior associate from 2019 to 2022.[4][5]
From July 2022 to June 2024, he served as group chief legal officer at VCI Global Limited (NASDAQ: VCIG), a Nasdaq-listed consulting group headquartered in Malaysia, with filings and profiles also listing him as a director during that period.[1][2][6]
Thow was appointed chief executive officer of Treasure Global Inc. on 14 June 2024, succeeding Sam Teo, and was named an executive director in July 2024.[1][2][3][7][8]
Treasure Global
editSince becoming chief executive officer in June 2024, Thow has overseen several strategic initiatives. In February 2025, the company announced plans to establish a US$100 million crypto treasury and to launch an artificial intelligence platform in the third quarter of the year.[9]
In March 2025, Treasure Global outlined plans to develop AI cloud infrastructure in Malaysia capable of supporting models of up to one trillion parameters, through a service agreement with V Gallant Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of VCI Global.[10][11]
In May 2025, the company reported its first quarterly profit since listing on Nasdaq, reversing a net loss from the same period the previous year. The result was attributed to a shift toward higher-margin operations and disciplined cost management.[12]
