Montgomery (Monty) C. Lunde is co-founder, President, and CEO of Technifex, Inc., a Los Angeles-based entertainment company formed in 1984[1][2] and a world leader in unique special effect show systems. Technifex produces live and simulated fire features,[2][3] water features, atmospheric effects, mechanical effects, visual illusions, and immersive experiences for major attractions at Disneyland,[4] Universal Studios, Paramount Parks, Chimelong, Dreamscape Immersive, museums,[5] waterparks[6] and more.
As a visionary pioneer, Lunde founded the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) in 1991, inspiring, motivating and organizing his colleagues within themed entertainment to form an association to foster better understanding and relations between clients and suppliers, and operators and vendors. TEA would ultimately influence industry nomenclature, whereby "themed entertainment", "storytelling", "experience design", "immersion", and "guest experience" are now common statements around the globe.

editMonty Lunde began his involvement in themed entertainment in 1981, upon graduation from Stanford University, as a Special Effects Designer for Walt Disney Imagineering (formerly WED Enterprises). In 1984 he chose the entrepreneurial route and co-founded and is currently CEO and President of Technifex, Inc.
Lunde graduated with a double major in 1981 from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts in Design and Human Biology, receiving the Harley Earl Award for excellence as a design student.
Technifex has received multiple international awards, including 28 TEA Thea Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Special Effects, and an IAAPA Brass Ring Award. In 1996 Lunde was a recipient of the TEA Thea Award for Outstanding Individual for the founding and leadership of TEA. TEA’s Thea Awards have become internationally recognized as a symbol of excellence within the themed entertainment industry. Industry trade publication Blooloop recognized Lunde in 2018 as one of the 50 top theme park influencers.[7]
In 1999, Lunde founded Technifex Products, LLC, which provides pre-engineered special effects products for multiple output upon order, based on novel patents he and his team developed. In 2020, Lunde founded Technifex XR to provide immersive VR/AR training and simulation experiences for the military and first responders.
Lunde continues to support and sponsor charity and community involvement within TEA by chairing the Past President’s Committee, supporting the art education non-profit, Ryman Arts, and sponsoring Give Kids the World Village for the terminally ill.
