Swiftships, LLC, specializes in the construction of small to medium sized commercial and military grade vessels built of steel, aluminum, or fiberglass. Swiftships, formerly known as, Sewart Seacraft, was started by Fred Sewart in 1942, in Berwick, Louisiana. It was originally Sewart Machine Works but became Sewart Seacraft in 1952. It was sold to Teledyne in 1967 but spun off to its management as Swiftships Shipbuilders, LLC, in 1969. The name "Swiftships" was derived from the 193 patrol boats its predecessor's produced for the U.S. Navy during Vietnam War. Officially known as the Patrol Craft Fast (PCF), sailors who served on these boats coined them as ["Swift" Boats]. Swiftships' new team moved the operation from Berwick to its present ___location in [City, Louisiana]. On January 2, 2014, Swiftships Shipbuilders, LLC, modified its name to Swiftships, LLC, as part of its re-branding campaign for the company.
