This template attempts to determine the surname of a given person, including any prefixes, and use it as a sort key, so that tables containing people can easily be set up to be sorted by surname.

editThis template uses pattern matching to identify surnames, and it will not identify all surnames properly. It is your responsibility to check that the output is properly alphabetized!
