ROLLIN PALERMO TABUENA

Rollin Palermo Tabuena is a Filipino pulmonologist and the first interventional bronchoscopist in Iloilo City, Philippines.[1] He is known for introducing the 60-minute Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification Test Kit (TB Lamp) [2] for the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis in the hospitals of Iloilo. He was awarded the Most Outstanding Young Scientist 2006 by the country’s Department of Science and Technology,[3] among other accolades in his field of practice. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Tabuena, along with his wife, Dr. Daisy P. Tabuena, started to promote extensively the dance fitness program of Zumba under the duo title of “Dancing Doctors of Iloilo.”[4] Tabuena is also an advocate and patron of local fashion designers, especially those who make use of indigenous materials, the foremost of which is Iloilo’s Hablon fabric. This led to his recognitions in the field of fashion, such as Men of Exemplary Influence 2024 and Faaabvlous Men XI (2023) and XII (2024),[5] among others.
