The edits I've seen look mostly fine and contain minor grammatical errors at most that can be easily fixed. Personally I don't see much of a reason to do anything about this editor. Looks like they're making good faith edits and that their English just needs work (which is completely OK here as long as they are able to communicate effectively). But I think it would be good if they talked with other editors. Gommeh šŸŽ® 11:52, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to understand the reason for removal. I was trying to provide updates statistics on US travel insurance market, from the United States Travel Insurance Association. The previous paragraph is dated states from 2022, and updated stats are available for 2024. Slaatp25 (talk) 17:34, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Remi Rough page

edit

hello there, thank you for your comments and revisions to the Remi Rough. I'm quite new to all this and appreciate your help. Firstly, is there a way I can look at the edits I made? I can't see my version, and spent quite a bit of time on it, so would like to work and improve that version rather than start over. Secondly, if I can attached correct citations for all/most of the edits I made/added will that address the issue, or is there something else that I'm not understanding yet? Many thanks for your support, I need to get better versed with the citations. Human4545 (talk) 16:40, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

My best bet would be to see what information you can find out about the subject from the sources listed at WP:RSP. You cal also copy the contents of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Permalink/1298447471 to your sandbox. Gommeh šŸŽ® 16:44, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Adding official logo to New Mogadishu International Airport

edit

Hey, I know I haven't given you rest (wanting your help very frequently). Once again, could you help me out with uploading a non free image on Wikipedia? I want to make sure I do it properly with the right steps and fair use rationale. I know you're experienced with this so I’d really appreciate your guidance. Majid8097 (talk) 19:30, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

See the File Upload Wizard for how to do that. You'll need the copyright license the logo was released under though. Gommeh šŸŽ® 19:33, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
That's tough! Isn't there a way to get through this, maybe local upload? Majid8097 (talk) 19:39, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Nope. With no license you can't upload it. See WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FAIRUSE. Gommeh šŸŽ® 19:41, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for letting me know! The image containing the logo from a Somali government site. I think knowing that is better than not knowing the copyright license the logo was released under Majid8097 (talk) 20:23, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Reese McGuire 2025.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Reese McGuire 2025.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://apnews.com/article/cubs-mcguire-reds-1e59836b115c962268b7eb5c6be23428 and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — GhostRiver 21:04, 8 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Accessibility user page

edit

Hello! Just wanted to quickly flag that your user page has links that aren't very accessible. It generally bad practice to hide links behind the words 'here', or 'this link'. Screen readers get confused by it, but it's also difficult for other readers who cannot quickly scan for the link they're searching for. Better to be explicitly link the words 'common issues with AfCs' etc. —Femke 🐦 (talk) 21:06, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Drumeo

edit

This showed up in a queue for userspaces in AfC. Likely because it used to be at Drat:Drumeo. I did not move it back to that target as it looks like you moved it to your userspace? Not sure if that was intended or not. If the userpage is deleted U1 (which may not apply), the draft would be deleted as well which would overwrite the submission created by another user. CNMall41 (talk) 21:56, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Good catch - don't delete the article at Drumeo. I was trying to get User:Gommeh/Drumeo draft deleted while I was prepping Drumeo for publication and messed up. Must have put the wrong page there by accident. Gommeh šŸŽ® 21:59, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
And idk about deleting the draft created by another user, especially since there's now an article for it. Gommeh šŸŽ® 22:00, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Yeah, I was not sure U1 would work since an IP created it. I changed the redirect target for Draft:Drumeo to Drumeo and left a message on the talk page of the userspace page. I do not have access to the cleanup tools but I am sure an admin can handle it. Cheers!--CNMall41 (talk) 22:07, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Helen Kales

edit

Hello - you recently declined the article at Draft:Helen Kales because it did not meet WP:GNG. For Kales, the appropriate criteria to meet is WP:PROF and Kales meets criteria #5 as a named professor. While the article is a stub, the details needed to verify her position as a named professor are included in the article. In addition, her work has been cited in the New York Times, and those details are cited in the article as well. Can you please take a second look at this article? One final comment - I am not Helen Kales, nor do I have a conflict of interest with this article. While the article was started by a user named @Helenkales, I did quite a bit of editing before sending it back to AfC. DaffodilOcean (talk) 13:22, 12 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Bretonneau Hospital (Tours)

edit

Hello! Some days ago you declined the draft Bretonneau Hospital (Tours). The article I translated is about a hospital located in tours, while the other is in Paris. They have the same name, but they are definitely not the same place. Regards! Andreachlc0203 (talk) 22:18, 12 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

You might want to discuss that on the article's talk page or with an editor who is more familiar with the hospital then - I made the decision based on what I saw. If they are not the same place, then you may want to think about discussing the difference, as it appears another editor was confused by it. But otherwise it looks good. A.A.Murakami Draft Declined

edit

Hi!

I am struggling to revise this draft... I am not sure what is making it sound not encyclopedic enough. I am also not sure why my sources are not good enough. I am referencing interviews and press releases. It would be super helpful for me if you can help point out some specific sections or phrases that I can improve. This will give me a better idea of what is not sounding neutral enough. Thank you! Khh57 (talk) 16:41, 16 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

There are a few issues right off the bat:
  • No references should be in the lead, those should be in the body of the article. Ideally, the lead should be a summary of the contents of the article, see MOS:LEAD - the sources should be cited in the body instead. See my article It (character) for an example of how to do this. No information should appear in the lead that isn't in the body of the article in a little more detail.
  • Additionally, the article's form needs work and/or expansion. Most artist articles include a section on their life or history, which this draft lacks. You can see a list of good art-related articles at Wikipedia:Good articles/Art and architecture. Have a look around there and pick an article about a similar artist or group of artists and try to match the form and tone in that article.
  • Instagram is not a reliable source, as it is self-published. I recommend you remove that one entirely if you can't find a secondary source.
I haven't heard of most of the rest of the websites you cited, so I can't say much about their reliability. Gommeh šŸŽ® 16:55, 16 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
In regards to the NPOV issue, have you done any research into A. A. Murakami's reception? As in, how did others see their work? What type of reviews did their art get (good, bad, mediocre, etc. and the reasons why).
You should also double check against the notability criteria for artists (WP:ARTIST) and if they meet the requirements, then you need to say so with the relevant sources. For instance, if their work has been included in the permanent collection of a notable gallery or museum (like you say it has), then that should be cited. I'd imagine the museum websites would probably have something on them that you can cite. If one of their works has been significant enough to become the primary subject of multiple independent reviews or news articles, then cite them. I don't really see that present in the article.

Question from CultOfTheWarGoddess (08:58, 17 July 2025)

edit

how do I properly format new sections, citations, and images? I was editing the page for Kanniks Kannikeswaran, googled him and realized that the page was completely missing his education where he studied material engineering. Additionally the page is missing a picture of him, one of which can be found on his website. I want to add these things but don't know how. --CultOfTheWarGoddess (talk) 08:58, 17 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi CultOfTheWarGoddess, glad to be able to help.
  • MOS:AT has some good guidance for how to format new sections. Are you asking in terms of how to divide up an article into sections, or are you asking what wikitext to use?
  • For images, you can use the file upload wizard and follow the steps on the page. Please make sure you have permission to use the image, know which license the image is released under, and are familiar with Wikipedia's policies on copyright and fair use.
  • In my experience, citations are best added in the visual editor. Navigate to the place in the article you would like to insert a citation, then click the "Cite" button near the top of the editor. If you have the URL (for websites) or ISBN/DOI number (for books, journals, etc.) then you can put that in there under the "Automatic" tab and it will automatically generate a citation for you. If that doesn't work, you can use the "Manual" tab to fill out the details manually and then click "Insert". For the citation guidelines, please see WP:CITE.
Let me know if you have any more questions. Gommeh šŸŽ® 12:19, 17 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question from CultOfTheWarGoddess (01:34, 18 July 2025)

If a page says that a research journal was acquired by another company and it is now hosted by them, could I just cite the research journal existing on the new companies website? --CultOfTheWarGoddess (talk) 01:34, 18 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

That would depend on whether the existing link or DOI still works or not. You should cite Pubmed, which should automatically update any changes to where it was published. Gommeh šŸŽ® 13:22, 18 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

I doubt this is WP:PROMO since all it's doing is listing who made the uniforms and not advertising or anything. Although I question the necessity of the "Other(s)" section in the table. As for WP:BURDEN and the statistics section in general, I'm not sure since I normally don't edit sports-related articles all that much. Gommeh šŸŽ® 15:44, 18 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Dear Gommeh, the wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fazal-ur-Rehman_(politician) the full name of the person is Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, kindly change it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Masterkaihewho (talk • contribs) 17:03, 24 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

That's a contentious topic, and admittedly I have little experience editing in those areas. I've requested the move on the article's talk page. An interested editor with experience in the contentious topic of South Asia can decide whether to move the page or not in accordance with guidelines. I'm sure it'd be fine if I did it, but better safe than sorry. Gommeh šŸŽ® 17:12, 24 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Surely, the official full name is listed in the Parliament of Pakistan (National Assembly of Pakistan), of which Maulana Fazl ur Rehman is an elected official member, no one would diasgree. <<https://na.gov.pk/en/profile.php?uid=697>> The page Fazal-ur-Rehman (politician) . It (character) expansion

edit

I have been monitoring your expansion of the article on It (character), noticed that there are some things that need work on (citing literary sources, images and general layout). The King 2017 literary citations do not have a source attributed to them currently and will need to be added. If you have questions you can message me on my talk page. Paleface Jack (talk) 15:32, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Looks like there was some sort of glitch with the source you mentioned as it actually was cited at It (character)#cite_ref-10. Fixed.
There's currently a discussion about the changes that need to be made to get it to GA status at Talk:It (character)#It (character) GA nom since someone else with more GA experience than me is helping me out, feel free to participate there. I'd rather not have two discussions on the same topic going on in different places at once. Gommeh šŸŽ® 15:38, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Kiara C. Jones

edit

Hi Gommeh, can you please explain how the draft violates NPOV, enough to justify a decline on that basis? I am not saying it should be accepted but I don't get NPOV. (Side note, "Please respect that or I will destroy you politely ask you to stop." gave me a chuckle). S0091 (talk) 19:23, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

It does not violate NPOV, but I feel the draft looks more like a resume than an encyclopedia article, in particular the wording used in the table under "film and television". Additionally, I'm not quite sure if she qualifies for notability under WP:PRODUCER. Gommeh šŸŽ® 19:48, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
As far I as can tell, the "film and television" section just states factual sourced claims without any WP:PEACOCK. Also, if you don't think a draft meets notability, you should decline on that basis because what you saying is even if they fixed NPOV (which is arguable that is an issue). it would still be declined due to notability, so sending them in a decline cycle. S0091 (talk) 19:58, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
The notability thing was an afterthought as I was writing my reply to you. Plus I think in some cases (like in this one) WP:PEACOCK can be subjective and that was the feeling I got from reading it. Gommeh šŸŽ® 20:00, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Could you please offer them some guidance about how to resolve what you see as WP:PEACOCK? If I don't see it, then likely they will not either. S0091 (talk) 20:04, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
You have gotten rid of most of it (good!) but for starters I see a documentary expositing the plight and strength of children aging out of foster care as potentially needing a rewrite, as "expositing plight and strength" seemed to me like it could be better replaced with "on". But having said that, this is all subjective, so some other reviewer may not have a problem with this. I had other things at first, but having another look at it everything else looks fine. Gommeh šŸŽ® 20:17, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure what you are saying, especially about me getting of rid of anything. I nor anyone else have edited the draft since your decline. And you don't need you to tell me what the issues are, but the submitter. Maybe you do not know I am an AfC reviewer so I am coming to you as a fellow reviewer and I do not understand your decline or your responses here. S0091 (talk) 20:26, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
AH my bad I'm a dummy, I forgot to check who the submitter was lol. I'm just gonna fix it then accept. Maybe I'm just bad at wording things. Gommeh šŸŽ® 20:34, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Lol, I not the greatest at wording things either, Gommeh. Again. I don't know if meets notability but I just really did not get the NPOV decline. S0091 (talk) 20:38, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

I recently deleted a paragraph that has information that was presented by media but is not reflective of the actual events. The situation was legally expunged and all records destroyed as there was no evidence. Points made were incorrect and that singular paragraph has cost me millions of dollars with lost opportunities that were offered and then removed. I respectfully ask that the alteration I made stay intact as another opportunity is being presented. Please respect my wishes on MY page. GridIronFootball (talk) 14:14, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Please read WP:OWN - you don't own any article written about you. We care what reliable secondary sources say. If you want to present your own version of events you can, but do not delete what other people have said if it is backed up by sources. Additionally you may want to make sure you're up to date on our conflict of interest policies, since you pretty much just admitted you have a COI that hasn't been properly disclosed.
