Administrators' newsletter – March 2025
News and updates for administrators from the past month (February 2025).
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether AI-generated images (meaning those wholly created by generative AI, not human-created images modified with AI tools) should be banned from use in articles.
- A series of 22 mini-RFCs that double-checked consensus on some aspects and improved certain parts of the administrator elections process has been closed (see the summary of the changes).
- A request for comment is open to gain consensus on whether future administrator elections should be held.
- A new filter has been added to the Special:Nuke tool, which allows administrators to filter for pages in a range of page sizes (in bytes). This allows, for example, deleting pages only of a certain size or below. T378488
- Non-administrators can now check which pages are able to be deleted using the Special:Nuke tool. T376378
- The 2025 appointees for the Ombuds commission are だ*ぜ, Arcticocean, Ameisenigel, Emufarmers, Faendalimas, Galahad, Nehaoua, Renvoy, Revi C., RoySmith, Teles and Zafer as members, with Vermont serving as steward-observer.
- Following the 2025 Steward Elections, the following editors have been appointed as stewards: 1234qwer1234qwer4, AramilFeraxa, Daniuu, KonstantinaG07, MdsShakil and XXBlackburnXx.
I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
tag from Bouzebal, which you proposed for deletion. reliable sources found and added to article, mindful of WP:BIAS. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}}
back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! SallyRenee (talk) 05:40, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Looks good, thank you for doing that! GraziePrego (talk) 06:05, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Dandel175 (17:12, 24 March 2025)
Hi i have created https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:David_Dancey_Wood Im trying to do To move a published draft wiki article to mainspace, you need to be an autoconfirmed user (account at least 4 days old with 10 edits). Then, click "More" and "Move", select "Article" as the namespace, confirm the title, and click "Move page"
but i do not have the More button anyware can you help please --Dandel175 (talk) 17:13, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there,
- I have added the Articles For Creation template to the draft. This will allow you to submit the article to be reviewed, and then someone can accept it and move it into mainspace.
- Looking at the Draft I don't believe this article is currently suitable for mainspace. The images in the article are listed as being creative commons which I find surprising if they're examples of an artist's work? The writing is also very praising of David and doesn't seem encyclopaedic. If those are fixed up then it may be accepted when you submit. Also make sure the subject is WP:NOTABLE enough. GraziePrego (talk) 01:26, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Dandel175 (10:08, 25 March 2025)

Hello, GraziePrego. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Candidates of the 2026 Victorian state election".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. - Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.

Hi there, please do not use the term 'Aborigines' as it is widely considered offensive in Australia. Thank you for your well-intentioned edit. Poketama (talk) 08:21, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification @Poketama, as a fellow Australian I am aware of that- the bit I was reverting was the edit which introduced incorrect wording- saying there were x thousand "peoples" which wasn't correct as that implies x thousand separate groups, which was not the intended meaning of the sentence. Articles for Creation backlog drive
Hello GraziePrego:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in June!

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 3200 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Clintplayz (05:17, 28 May 2025)
Hallo!! Uhh do people usually dislike/downvote edit revisions? I corrected the page regarding the "List of wars by death tolls" by removing the Javanese wars, which the last revision had it on the 2nd spot above the mongolian conquest (along with it's Deaths being "0.23 million", no percentage, and no citation), while my edit is the current revision, my edit has been disliked/downvoted 110+ times, is that normal? --The Player (talk) 05:17, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ah I see what you mean- the “-110” is the number of characters you removed from the page, not upvotes or downvotes :) GraziePrego (talk) 05:21, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from Clintplayz (05:21, 28 May 2025)

All with proper links online this guy is a full time award winning tv appearing comedian, who has climbed the ladder from homelessness and drug addiction. He has been the UK Joke Champion, is playing the main comedy stage at Glastonbury and accidentally became an undercover reporter for national newspapers during the covid pandemic and took 1.5billion pounds off a multinational company by revealing practices of modern day slavery in the UK. This was commented on by the prime minister and laws got changed.

Hi GraziePrego. I appreciate your availability. I just created the page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coryphantha_compacta That looks OK but I set the page to be for Coryphantha cornifera. Apparently there's a redirect. Now the page's title says one thing, but the whole page refers to a different species. Question from Hayden Eurovision editor (07:15, 4 July 2025)
Hello!I am always posting the right media and information, always double-checked and I am posting it only because I know it.I am very interested in editing articles about Eurovision and making them longer/righter/more interesting.Which articles need to be changed for them to look more interesting and with good quality? --Hayden Eurovision editor (talk) 07:15, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
Question from K317hAr (02:38, 28 June 2025)
Hi Ixtal,
I created a page as a tribute for a journalist as I see pages created for many of his fellow journalists faced same challenges, but the page is failed to publish. Is it because my account is new or am I doing something wrong? --K317hAr (talk) 02:38, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
- Same happened to me.I am not a professional, but it may look like some editors/publishers/staff thought it may look more like an essay, than a Wikipedia page for help.Same happened when I tried to create a page for the Monegasque Eurovision national selections translated from French Wikipedia, but they thought it's an essay-like page. Question from Kealeboga kobile (21:03, 4 July 2025)
Hello how can I add a link when editing articles? --Kealeboga kobile (talk) 21:03, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- I am not a mentor, but I can help.First, you need to open the text editor (not the visual one,the one with only text and a lot of these:<>.Then, you need to click "Cite" in the left corner.Choose "Cite web".Then copy the URL of the source you want to cite, paste it there, name the citing (basically something like "Eurovision Turkey Results" as I did for Paker (Turkey Eurovision representative in 1996 and 1997).You can also add the date of the edit and the name of the website you're citing.Hope that's helpful for you.Good luck! Question from Joanlab (21:15, 8 July 2025)
Hi. I am editing the article that has been created for me on Wikipedia by others. I have made some corrections but did those before I "joined" so I guess those corrections and additions may or may not be added. I can check my "article" and confirm those (if possible). For instance, someone listed my birth-name using a variation of my legal working name but not including my actual birth name. I have corrected that. I have also added the names of some choreographers with whom I have worked (in addition to Merce Cunningham). I will make additional changes as I have time. --Joanlab (talk) 21:15, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Joanlab, which article is this? GraziePrego (talk) 05:51, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
Question from Jlicciardi (19:16, 10 July 2025)
Hi there - I'm curious about editing -- what is the best way to start being more helpful to the community? --Jlicciardi (talk) 19:16, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia, @Jlicciardi! There are lots of different things you can do. A great list of different tasks can be found at the Wikipedia:Task Center. One good way to get started is to do copy editing, essentially going and improving the wording of particular articles. There are lists of articles tagged as needing copy editing which you can find here :) GraziePrego (talk) 05:55, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
Question from Theresa DiMasi (13:35, 15 July 2025)
Hi, I want to create a page for someone else, and don't know how to change the title of it. Right now it says Create User: and my name. Needs to be a different name. --Theresa DiMasi (talk) 13:35, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
Question from Theresa DiMasi (14:02, 15 July 2025)
And a followup to that question -- do I have to publish a user name, my name, first, before writing a Wikipedia page for someone else? Is that what this means: To start a page called User:Theresa DiMasi, type in the box below. When you are done, preview the page to check for errors and then publish it.
I don't want a page named myself right now. --Theresa DiMasi (talk) 14:02, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
- No you don't have to publish a user page before making a page for someone else. You can ignore it when it says to start the page for User:Theresa DiMasi. GraziePrego (talk) 14:03, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
Question from Bdonley33! (17:30, 15 July 2025)
Hi and thanks!
I'm totally new to this - I used to have another account that I used to edit existing articles, but this is the first time I have ever tried to add new pages to Wikipedia...
And apparently, I don't know what I am doing...
I started something in my sandbox for a big West Texas business called Betenbough Homes, but when I went to publish it, it published with my sandbox name rather than with "Betenbough Homes."
How do you publish a page from the sandbox correctly?
Plus whatever other advice you have would be amazing!!!
Thanks again!

re: Fabricio Bloisi
Hey sorry I should not have included that; I just wanted to meet the criteria for references and tried to squeeze it in Eloquentverse (talk) 06:34, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- I don't understand though, did you put it in or did an AI put it in? Because you just put a totally fictitious sentence in, and then added a source to try and pass it off as a sourced piece of information. That is serious deception if you did that deliberately. GraziePrego (talk) 06:37, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- No i did not mean any deception or harm whatsoever with that. I should have removed it, and double checked the source. I am indeed incredibly sorry :/ Eloquentverse (talk) 06:43, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- "It developed mobile content services including ringtones and Brazil's first Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) search portal.[4]" The source makes no mention of the development of ringtones or the "first wireless application protocol".
- Please, please go check through every single source to make sure that the information contained in a sentence is actually sourced to the source. You cannot trust the output of AIs to write articles for this exact reason, they will produce a sentence with a source- but the source will not correspond to the sentence. GraziePrego (talk) 06:47, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- I will triple check all of the referenced quotes and sources and rewrite again If needed!! I Again apologize I am trying to get better at this without AI assistance Eloquentverse (talk) 06:50, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Eloquentverse thank you for doing that. :) GraziePrego (talk) 07:30, 20 July 2025 (UTC)

Request for Review of Claudia Lynx Wikipedia Page
Dear @GraziePrego, I have once again edited the Wikipedia page for Draft:Claudia Lynx - Wikipedia, significantly expanding the content and adding credible sources to enhance its quality. While most of the sources are in Persian and Arabic, I’ve also included English-language references to meet Wikipedia’s standards. I’ve put considerable effort and time into ensuring this page aligns with Wikipedia’s guidelines and policies. I believe the page is now ready for publication, especially considering that I’ve included 117 reliable sources—far more than many other Wikipedia pages that lack even a single reference. I kindly request that you review the page again and provide feedback. Thank you for taking the time to read my message, and I truly appreciate your consideration. WikiNourma (talk) 22:21, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @WikiNourma, I will let another reviewer have a look at the draft rather than me reviewing it again. I notice though that there's still plenty of citations to YouTube and social media on there, these should be removed from the draft. GraziePrego (talk) 02:52, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response @GraziePrego
- I believe the sources referencing YouTube and social media are essential for the article. The YouTube sources are tied to her 1995 performance on the Tamasha network, while the other two cover her interview with Persian Network at the Los Angeles Auto Show and her denial of a relationship with Tito Jackson. Honestly, I searched extensively for written sources for these videos, but unfortunately, they weren’t available on the Archive.org, or the links didn’t work. The two Facebook sources are also relevant; one about the last time she was seen, and the other about her final post.
- If you think these sources aren’t necessary, I can remove them. Please let me know, Thanks. WikiNourma (talk) 10:55, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Submission of my draft review - Avra Banerjee
Hi @GraziePrego, thank you for reviewing my draft on Avra Banerjee. I noticed that the submission was declined with the reason that it contains promotional or advertising content. Could you kindly help me understand specifically which parts of the article or which sources were considered promotional? I’d like to revise it to meet Wikipedia’s neutrality and sourcing standards, but I want to make sure I correct the appropriate sections. Swtysinha (talk) 05:15, 2 August 2025 (UTC) Swtysinha (talk) 05:19, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, this is an example, the section that just reads “Avra Banerjee views music as both a spiritual and intellectual pursuit. His compositions often incorporate unconventional rhythmic cycles, multi-modal melodic structures, and a commitment to emotional authenticity and experimentation.”. This also has no source, so it just seems like a promotional glowing description of the subject. I would also recommend you go through and put citations on each paragraph throughout the whole article, it’s currently unclear what information is actually supported by sources. GraziePrego (talk) 05:48, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- thanks a lot, I have now made required modifications, but I cannot edit the section above "Early Life" - can you please advise how to do it, rest I think I have taken care of."Avra Banerjee is an Indian-born classical musician, composer, and sarod player based in Perth, Western Australia. Known for his mastery in blending Indian classical music with global and contemporary forms, he is a prolific recording artist and a prominent figure in world music fusion.' Swtysinha (talk) 04:07, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Swtysinha, the draft contains the following terms and phrases: "multifaceted artistic profile", "work spans", "received appreciation", "he was honored", "His achievements were further recognized", honorees, "awards deserve a mention", "multiple recognitions", "major outlets", "featured in", eminent, legendary, prominent, renowned, mastery and prolific. It shows the hallmarks of being generated by a LLM and is unsuitable for an encyclopaedic entry. TarnishedPathtalk 05:53, 2 August 2025 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – August 2025
News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2025).
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
- Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.
- Administrators can now restrict the "Add a Link" feature to newcomers. The "Add a Link" Structured Task helps new account holders get started with editing. Administrators can configure this setting in the Community Configuration page.
- The arbitration case Indian military history has been closed.
- South Asia (WP:CT/SA) is designated a contentious topic. The topic area is specifically defined as
All pages related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups.
- The contentious topic designations for Sri Lanka (SL) and India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (IPA) are folded into this new contentious topic.
- The community-authorized general sanctions regarding South Asian social groups (GS/CASTE) are rescinded and folded into this new contentious topic.
- South Asia (WP:CT/SA) is designated a contentious topic. The topic area is specifically defined as
- The arbitration case Article titles and capitalisation 2 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 31 July.
- The arbitration case Transgender healthcare and people has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 11 August.
- Wikimania 2025 is happening in Nairobi, Kenya, and online from August 6 to August 9. This year marks 20 years of Wikimania. Interested users can join the online event. Registration for the virtual event is free and will remain open throughout Wikimania. You can register here now.
Question from Rupamswiki (03:05, 10 August 2025)
I am unable to publish my page. Can you help? --Rupamswiki (talk) 03:05, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of ADAMTS15
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on ADAMTS15 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10085599/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 16:28, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
ADAMTS15 - Context
I reviewed the speedy delete nomination (as a copyright violation) of ADAMTS15, and removed the tag, as it seemed that the "copied" words were scientific descriptions, etc. I noticed that a {{context}} tag had been added -- "This article provides insufficient context for those unfamiliar with the subject. Please help improve the article by providing more context for the reader." I am not familiar with the topic, so am in no position to add information. If you could address the issue and expand further, that would be great. Thanks. — ERcheck (talk) 16:47, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
