Question from Victoriac222 (15:13, 30 July 2025)

edit

Hi Stella,

I wanted to add an article about the brief modern history of a cocktail holiday. A lot of people celebrate this holiday with no insight into how it was formed, so I wanted to put that info in here. Lmk if I’m missing something/ if that’s possible? I can’t seem to find a way to add new content as a new user. --Victoriac222 (talk) 15:13, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

If you have sources that are reliable enough to back up your information, then go ahead. 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neostalkedits) 15:15, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question from Clarence1539 on Crocodile attack (14:28, 5 August 2025)

edit

Hello I have been reading Wikipedia daily for several years, and I absolutely adore this site. I have just registered to Wikipedia - I would like to add some important information regarding the article "Crocodile attack". The information I want to add involves me personally and it is based on my personal experience as the only known survivor to survive an attack by three massive Nile crocodiles. The problem is, my story was published widely, but the publications in the press were misleading, not telling the true story. After the attack, I was hospitalized and wasn't able to talk for several months. When I regained the ability to talk, I refused to talk the press - I would like my story to appear on Wikipedia rather then the press. My question is whether I could edit the article without the misleading citations that were published on the press, but rather base my addition on my personal documents, such as my medical reports? Of course, I wouldn't want my medical information to go public. Thank you very much! --Clarence1539 (talk) 14:28, 5 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia! Unfortunately, adding your own experience is forbidden as we are not an archive of original research. 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neostalkedits) 19:39, 6 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question from SRF2806 (22:49, 7 August 2025)

edit

Hi, I have a pretty specific (+ long) question I'm hoping you can help with. I've been working on translating articles from the Japanese language Wikipedia into English to improve the English-language articles. The article I'm working on right now (Yu Chin-san/柳珍山) is largely formatted like a timeline in the Japanese, rather than a prose biography, so I'm wondering if you have suggestions for the best way to format my translation in the English article. Should I keep the timeline format, for loyalty to the translation, or try to integrate my translation into the English prose? --SRF2806 (talk) 22:49, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I would recommend translating as much as possible into prose. If you need help, check Wikipedia:Translate. 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neostalkedits) 01:58, 8 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I need help with getting started

edit

I hope you’re doing well. I’m currently working on creating my Wikipedia page, but I’m a bit stuck on how to properly add my references and format the page so it meets the notability requirements. Could you please guide me through the next steps?

Thank you so much for your help!

Question from JessEli1 on Aleksander Michałowski (16:18, 25 August 2025)

edit

I am looking at the suggested entry for Aleksander Michalowski, the entry first suggested to me. I think the entry itself looks complete but have found several names that need a link with further descriptions of their work (i.e., Stanislaw Urstein, Edwarda Chojnacka, etc) . Is this something I should note? Somewhere I can pass this information on? Or do I need to be concerned with links at this point? --JessEli1 (talk) 16:18, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

JessEli1, I recommend going to your local library or using a search engine like Google Scholar. — 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neostalkedits) 00:06, 30 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question from ESTEBANRFP (07:41, 26 August 2025)

edit

I'd like to write about GenosDB. I'm the creator. I'd like to share the documentation, tutoriales, etc, distributed technology, and contribute my knowledge of the topic. Is this possible, or is it self-promotion? I've worked on GenosDB documentation for years, and I'm the creator of its documentation platform. I recently registered here on Wikipedia. https://genosdb.com/ --ESTEBANRFP (talk) 07:41, 26 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

ESTEBANRFP, I recommend you use the article wizard and declare your conflict of interest there. Writing about yourself is discouraged on Wikipedia. — 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neostalkedits) 00:05, 30 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question from Ladyignorer (12:11, 27 August 2025)

edit

Hello, Luna. I was wondering; if we want to add more information to an article, where are we supposed to find it? As Wikipedia is the main source for most of the knowledge, and the information is not currently on it. --Ladyignorer (talk) 12:11, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Ladyignorer, you should follow the tips at Help:Your first article. — 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neostalkedits) 00:04, 30 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2025 September newsletter

edit

The fourth round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 29 August. The penultimate round saw three contestants score more than 800 points:

Everyone who competed in Round 4 will advance to Round 5 unless they have withdrawn. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far, while the full scores for Round 4 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 9 featured articles, 12 featured lists, 98 good articles, 9 good topic articles, more than 150 reviews, nearly 100 did you know articles, and 18 in the news articles.

In advance of the fifth and final round, the judges would like to thank every contestant for their hard work. As a reminder, any content promoted after 29 August but before the start of Round 5 can be claimed in Round 5. In addition, note that Round 5 will end on 31 October at 23:59 UTC. Awards at the end of Round 5 will be distributed based on who has the most tournament points over all five rounds, and special awards will be distributed based on high performance in particular areas of content creation (e.g., most featured articles in a single round).

Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges – Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), Frostly (talk · contribs), Guerillero (talk · contribs) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs) – are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck!
