Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Morecambe F.C., but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:07, 4 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I edited the page due to a number of sources discussing the closure of the football club on third-party platforms, from users with large numbers of followers. However, if you think that this isn’t a reliable source, then we can leave the page as it was.
Thanks. OracleDarts (talk) 17:11, 4 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi, OracleDarts. While Morecambe's prospective closure is being widely discussed (those discussing, and their numbers of followers, are not relevant), it hasn't yet occurred. We need reliable sources saying the club has gone into administration or liquidation before we can start saying the club is defunct. Paul W (talk) 20:50, 4 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

August 2025

edit

Hi there, just to let you know, I fixed this edit before you. Before the edit, the article said that McFadzean had played 10 games and scored 0 goals for Chesterfield as at 28 May 2025, which was correct. You changed the number of goals but you didn't change the number of games or the "as at" date, meaning that his stats then became wrong. Please ensure that if you are updating a player's stats, you remember to update all three things (games/goals/"as at" date). Thanks! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:28, 19 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

JackSucksAtLife Wikipedia Situation

edit

A few years ago, British YouTuber JackSucksAtLife uploaded a video to YouTube where he jokingly added himself to the bottom of the Wikipedia Bishop Auckland article’s notable people list. However, this led to excessive vandalism on the Bishop Auckland page. Jack then understood why he was not notable and apologised to Wikipedia moderators.

However, today his fan base as grown massively to over 4,000,000 subscribers. He has also featured in many reliable news articles, multiple times, on many occasions. This would mean that he would have completed three Wikipedia notability milestones: a large fan base/following,appearances in many reliable news articles, and appearances in many other Wikipedia articles, surely making him eligible. In my opinion, he definitely deserves an article or at least a mention in a notable people page for either County Durham, the county where he grew up; Bishop Auckland, the town; or Ramshaw, Bishop Auckland (which doesn’t currently have a notable people list), the village. If not, can a moderator please explain why he is not eligible, and don’t say anything like ‘he hasn’t have a large enough fan-base’, or ‘he hasn’t appeared in any third party news articles’, because clearly he has both. And also please do not just say ‘he doesn’t meet our eligibility criteria’ because that tells us nothing. Finally, there is nothing to say on Wikipedia’s guidelines that someone who has in-directly caused vandalism in a way that they were unaware of or had no control of, meaning that this cannot be the reason (unless there is something that I am completely unaware of).

I hope that either he gets an article/mention, or an experienced moderator can give me a valid reason as to why he isn’t notable. Thanks. OracleDarts (talk) 15:03, 28 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
