Amanda Bowman

edit

Amanda Bowman is a British disc jockey, who currently presents the weekday mid morning show, Across Midday, between 10am and 1pm on Nottingham based radio station Saga 106.6 FM.

Her broadcasting career began in the mid 1980s while she was working for Radio Trent. Initially one of the station's Careline presenters, she went on to host a show at Trent in her own right, before later taking a career break in order to bring up her children. Returning to the airwaves in the 1990s, she presented shows on Trent's mediumwave service, GEM-AM, then the Classic Gold network after GEM became one of many AM services to be taken over by the network. At Classic Gold, she hosted the breakfast show and was later a lunchtime presenter, before leaving to join SAGA.

She has been a presenter at SAGA since 2005.

A note to the editor

edit

This article was previously declined as it does not answer the significance of the person. However, I have resubmitted it because Wikipedia has other articles on similar people - many of them only one or two lines in length and without references. For examples of this check out 100.7 Heart FM and its various presenters.

Also, what are the rules regarding the type of biography from which this article was written? Can they be used as a source? After all, it is not her website, but the site belonging to the company for which she works. Can anyone advise? 217.44.164.92 12:48, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Largely, sources ought to be reliable, per WP:RS. However, other sites are an OK substitution, and with the case of a disc jockey, it's not a huge deal if the sites aren't New York Times or the Guardian. A lot of times, we use those sites to establish notability as much as anything. Anyway, I'm not going to decline your submission, obviously, as I was the one who did it before. However, this articles for creation page has been rather slow as of late, and I can't guarantee anyone else will decline or accept it either. If it doesn't work in a few days, try putting in a note at the Help Desk. Patstuarttalk|edits 13:13, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
