Christina Magalhães Herrmann, also known as "Chris Herrmann" (born June 21, 1963) is a writer, poet and composer in Brazil. Since 1996 she lives in Germany and has also worked as translator and webdesign. But her passion is the poetry, specially the Haiku.

She was born in Rio de Janeiro, studied Literatur at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Music and Piano at Conservatório Brasileiro de Música (CBM). Other Courses: Philosophy, Theology, Administration and Languages. Since very young started to write poems and composing songs like "Em Busca do Paraíso" (only for Piano), "Vôo Celeste" and "Viking III" (together with Roberto Oliveira Costa) and others.

Chris Herrmann has participated in various poetry anthologies in Brazil, also in Spain and United States of America. Since January 2005 she creates and leads successfully online communities at Orkut.com, like "Café Filosófico Das Quatro" (CF4), "Sociedade dos Pássaros-Poetas" (SPP), "Orkultural" (from her Column in Blocos Online) and "Trovadores Noturnos" (TN). She gives special attention to writers and poets, organizing own anthologies ( for example, 4 anthologies for CF4, 1 for SPP and TN in parcery with the "Congresso Brasileiro de Poesia") and other interesting online projects.

Minnesota Street Rod Association

The Minnesota Street Rod Association (MSRA) was founded over thirty years ago by a group of Twin Cities car enthusiasts. The original 12 members met at a Pizzeria in Minneapolis, MN. They created an association of local car clubs to serve as a forum providing information about the hobby to other clubs and enthusiasts in the area.

One of the first events the new Association hosted was a cruise night. They invited about 200 friends to meet at St. Paul's Midway Shopping Center parking lot. After an impromptu car show some of the members took off to cruise to a local theater. They filled the streets with rods and customs just as the film "American Graffiti" let out. After a few years, they moved the event to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. They named this get together Back to the 50's!

MSRA Today

The MSRA has grown to exceed 13,000 members world-wide. Back to the 50's now hosts over 11,500 cars and over 200,000 spectators. It is the second largest car show of its kind in the world, with the NSRA Street Rod Nationals being the first.

MSRA is an all-volunteer association. The Association is governed by a Board of Directors whom are also volunteers. As a non-profit organization all profits are returned to the members in the form of the Web page, LineChaser, subsidized picnics, dances, banquets and campouts. Membership dues have remained unchanged for twenty years.

Back to the 50's has been featured in Street Rodder and Rod and Custom magazines and has been highlighted on My Classic Car on the TNN cable network. The event has also been covered by Nitro Magazine, a magazine in France. With members in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand and the United States, the MSRA is a "world-class" car club.

The Future?

This is a Chiefly Title of the head of the Toranibaunakarawa clan living in Yavu village, Batiki. The first Koyamaivunivesi (Tuinayavu) established the Kubuna Kingdom with Vueti the first Roko Tui Bau. It was through the consent and the blessings of the Koyamaivunivesi that led Vueti and the Raluve ni Batiki to build the Kubuna Kingdom. Kubuna is the name of a land mound known as the yavutu of the Kubuna descedants now living in Bau island. The Koyamaivunivesi after relinquish the chiefly duty to Vueti left Delaibatiki to reside in Batiki island in Lomaiviti. He is an independent chief with traditional ties to Bau, Namara, Savusavu, Ono-Kadavu, Nabuna Koro and Verata.

A USGA COURSE Rating is the USGA's evaluation of the playing diffculty of a course for scratch golfers under normal course and weather conditions for the purpose of providing a uniform basis on to issue USGA Handicap Indexes. It is expressed as strokes taken to one decimal place, and is based on yardage and other obstacles to the extent that they affect the scoring ability of a scratch golfer.

A USGA SLOPE Rating evaluates the relative playing difficulty of a course for players who are not scratch golfers. The lowest USGA SLOPE rating is 55 and the highest is 155. A golf course of standard playing difficulty has a USGA SLOPE Rating of 113.

{{Infobox Military Person}} Fernand Goux (31 December 1899 –) is, at age 108, the last identified World War I veteran living in France. He lives in the Paris region.

Goux signed up for service on April 1918, and served behind the front until November 1918, when he was sent to the front for the last week of the war. Despite the fact he was a French soldier at the front, the French government does not recognize him as an official poilu as he fought less than the official three months needed before the Armistice.

Bolam's Mill Fire

On the 11th Febuary 2006, a fire at the Bolam Mill site required the attendance of six fire crews from across Northumberland county and a reported 36 firefighters battle the flames for over seven hours.

The firm have since relocated to Hawkhill Business Park, Alnwick.

    The Keys of Death and Hell as so advertised in Revelations 1:18. I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. To anyone who has studied the bible codes one will realize that the gematria has been used throughout the Bible. Yet like most who study the Bible, most have come to the realization that it is open to speculation on basically every level. With various contradictions an imaginative predictions its existance has proved more imaginative than factual. The Keys of Death and Hell are no less aluring. Yet the keys themself have a foundation that supports more than just the idea of a set of keys, they support what some consider to be the mark of the beast, 666. For others it supports the old Freemasons' 333.
    Centuries have past since Bacon edited the bible, and its been even longer since Constantine commisioned his men to write the New Testament. As a starter no one has ever dared address the idea of what the keys might mean. But just as all other areas found in the Bible, the keys too are basic symbolic gestures to the mathmatical, such is the reality of all things.
    With these mathmatical observations in hand we can open up the idea that the 333 and the 666 have been in play for longer than one wishes to admit. Stevie Blacke is one of the rarest people in the music business today. Sometimes referred to as "The Blacke Orchestra", Stevie has arranged and performed on many of todays most known albums. He is unique because not only arranges the strings, he also plays every part himself. He plays violin, viola, cello and even double bass, as well as countless other stringed instruments.

In the late fall of 1996, Jeffrey Trail, 28, made a big change. He moved from San Diego to Bloomington, Minn., to take a job as district manager for Ferrellgas, a propane delivery company in Inver Grove Heights.

"He was really nice," said Lisa Pilot, 27, a customer service representative who worked for Trail. "He didn't know a lot about propane. He was hard-working and always willing to learn from the rest of us.

"He never got mad. He was always caring," she added, "He wasn't here all that long. We didn't get to know him very well."

Born in De Kalb, Ill., Trail was the youngest of five children. His father, Stanley, is a retired mathematics professor who taught at Northern Illinois University; his mother, Ann, a retired public elementary school teacher.

"It sounds trite, but he was a wonderful son and we're going to really miss him," said Ann Trail.

While in high school, Jeff Trail ran track, his father said. The son attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and worked at the local airport, his father said, "to be around fliers and airplanes." Jeff Trail graduated from De Kalb High School in 1987.

Trail's acceptance by the U.S. Naval Academy was a very big deal "for Jeff and for me," said Stanley Trail. After graduation in 1991, he was stationed in San Diego. For a short time after he got out of the Navy, said his father, Jeff was a trainee in the California Highway Patrol.

In San Diego, Jeff Trail and Cunanan became friends. "Jeff was the kind of guy who was always trying to help people out," the elder Trail said.

"He was kind, caring. He had very few bad habits," he continued. "He went out of his way to be helpful to people."

He said this was not just a father's pride. "This is what I've gleaned from people."

  • A small squadron of five sailing ships belonging to the Knights of Malta successfully capture a 46-gun Turkish ship carrying over 300 slaves. This is the first major offensive naval operation undertaken by the fleet since its formation in 1701, and escorting convoys since the beginning of 1705. [1]
  • The centuries old privateering base of Dunkirk closes. As a result, the replacement rate of ships drops dramatically. [2]
  • John Halsey, commanding the Charles, begins raiding shipping in the Indian Ocean. He is the first American privateer to visit the Red Sea since the 1690s. [3]
  • Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville, in the midst of the War of the Spanish Succession, leads an attack invading the English colony at Nevis. Approximately 1,100 buccaneers were among his forces. [4]
  • Local pirates are enlisted by colonial authorities to help defend Charlestown, South Carolina from the Spanish under the command of a French admiral. They are led by Lieutenant Colonel William Rhett who sail out to meet the Spanish fleet, four warships and a galley, and chases them from the area. Several days later, Rhett took several pirates with him to capture a large ship from the enemy fleet. [5]
  • Mary Read, disguising herself as a man, enlists in the Royal Navy. [6]
  • Between 1,200-1,300 French privateers occupy Martinique, one of the last old buccaneering hideouts, which they use to raid English and colonial American shipping. [7]
  • May 23 - Captain William Kidd is publicly hanged at London's infamous Execution Dock after being tried and convicted of murder and piracy.
  • October - New Providence, a longtime pirate haven during the Buccaneering era, is abandoned after a Spanish raid destroys the church-fortress scattering Governor Nicholas Trott small settlement. This attack, along with a previous joint French-Spanish raid in 1703, effectively ends the colony as a base for English privateers. [8] [9]

  • Thomas Moore is appointed pilot of a privateer and engaged by Guillaume Gaillard command the La-Nostre-Dame-de-Victoire in a privateering expedition "against enemies of the state" in Cape Breton, Newfoundland, the Great Banks and elsewhere. An experienced sea captain, he reportedly conducted merchant ships to Hudson Bay as a master or pilot under Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville. [10]
  • A privateer manned by Irish and Scottish Jacobites sails from France to Wexford. Once ashore, the crew led by Thady Doyle attacks the town "full of fire and vengeance". Doyle, himself a local Wexford Jacobite, points out houses belonging to Protestants and Catholics "in order that the former might be plundered and the latter spared". [11]
  • A French privateer kidnaps the work party constructing the second Eddystone lighthouse in Rudyerd and taken back to France where they are imprisoned. Upon hearing news of the incident, Louis XIV set the men free and instead put their captors in prison instead. The French king then stated "though he was at war with England, he was not at war with mankind" and sent the Englishmen back to their country loaded with presents. [12]
  • The Knights of Malta sends its naval squadron, consisting of five well-armed sailing ships, to provide support for the Spanish garrison at Oran during an attack by Algiers. This same squadron was successful in taking a 46-gun Turkish slaver the previous year. [13]
  • The Charles, the former flagship of American colonial privateer John Halsey, is sunk in a hurricane off the coast of India. After a year in the Indian Ocean, Halsey had built up a formidable fleet and later changed his flagship to the Neptune. [14]
  • Kanhoji Angria, a pirate active between Bombay and the Malabar coast, is reported to have amassed "a fleet of considerable strength" after two years of harassing local merchantmen. Although politically distinct from the Maratha government, at least to some extent, he occupies a port city on the Maratha coast. [15] That same year, he attacked the English frigate Bombay which exploded during a brief firefight. [16]
  • Robert Hunter, recently appointed lieutenant governor of the Colony of Virginia, is captured by a French privateer while en route to Virginia and taken to France. After a brief time in prison, he is release in a prisoner exchange. [17]
  • March - Woodes Rogers receives a letter of marque to command the 100-ton Eugene Prize, a privateering ship he co-owned with Bristol merchant and fitted with eight cannon and carrying 20 men. During his first voyage, he encounters marooned privateer Alexander Selkirk and rescues him after four years living on Juan Fernández Islands. [18] At the end of the year, he was approached by William Dampier in the hopes of bankrolling a privateering expedition against the Spanish. [19]

Born 9th February 1922 - 16th December 1966.

Francesco 'Frankie' Narastash was an italian criminal and leading Consiglieri to Luciano Leggio head of the Corleonese, the Mafia faction that originated in the italian town of Corleone.

Narastash was born in Palermo, Italy in 1922 and is one of 5 children. Raised in poverty, Narastahs turned to crime in his early teens and by the time he was 18 he had already received 3 convictions for stealing and assault, the latter led to a 5 month jail term. The next few years saw Narastash in and out of prison several times and on 11th March, 1946 he murdered a fellow inmate. After an argument over cigarettes he pushed the inmate over a second level cell block to his death. Although there were many witnesses to the murder, no one came forward and he was acquitted due to lack of evidence. The inmate happened to be the brother of a farm hand shot dead by Luciano Leggio in 1945 and this came to the attention of then mafia boss Michele Navarra who subsequently recruited him as an enforcer and hitman.

In the late 1940's he was again behind bars for various assualts and during this time he met Salvatore Riina who was in jail for manslaughter. The two bacame friends and upon both their releases they were approached by Leggio and began to build a mafia faction loyal to him alone. This did not please Navarra and Narastahs was subsequently 'disowned' by him.

By 1956 Leggio's faction, including Narastash were becoming powerful in their own right. A war was raged with Navarra and his followers and Narastahs was almost killed in 1958 when Navarra's men made an attempt on Leggios life. Leggio was only slightly injured and Narastash received two non fatal shots to the leg and arm.

A short time after this attack Leggio's men killed Navarra in a revenge attack spraying hundreds of bullets into his car during an ambush. Navarra died at the scene.

By the 1960s' Narastash was a leading figure in one of the most powerful mafia clans in Italy. His friendship with Leggio grew to the point that he bacame one of three leading consiglieri's during their murderous heroin dealings of the 1960's. These dealings led to greed and by 1965 Narastash was growing tired of playing second fiddle. He quietly bagan to recruit his own men inclusing notorius hitman Giovanni Alonso. Not only was Narastash now stealing drugs from Leggio in order to sell them, he was also beginning to undercut his boss and steal his customers. Leggio eventually got wind of his plans, initially believeing it to be an associate of Navvara. Once he found out it was Narastash he saw it as a the greatest form of betrayal and ordered his execution.

on the 16th December, 1966 Narastash and Alonso were shot dead by an unknown Leggio associate whilst dining at a local restaurant.

MERRICK EZRA CARN (1808-1862) was Lt. Governor of South Carolina from 1858 to 1860 under then Governor Gist. Merrick signed the SC "Ordinance of Secession" in Dec. of 1860 at Charleston.

Merrick was born in 1808 the son of Thomas Carn and Strobel. He was therefore a grandson of Lewis J. Carn, a colonial planter. His Uncles Daniel and Lewis Carn were known to be American Patriots and Revolutionary War Veterans according to the 1835 Penson Roll.

Merrick went to South Carolina College (USC) and later studied law to become a SC lawyer. He held many positions of local and state government, from his home seat in Walterboro, Colleton Co., SC. This included lawyer, attorney, planter, mayor, county and state rep, state senator, and finally as Lt. Governor. He also was Presidental Elector in the 1850s for the Democratic Party. He also was a member and deacon for the St Jude's Anglican Church in Walterboro. He attended a conference before war broke out. 

Merrick married and had one daughter Mary Carn who married Fishburne and their son (Merrick's grandson) was EL Fishburne, the SC State Supreme Court Justice.

Merrick died in January of 1862 and was described by his cousin David Gavin, Esq., as being the most liberal minded of men. Merrick was a registered Southern Democrat. CARN Street in Walterboro city in named after him, and is nearby his historic home. The SC State Bill 2176 in 1979-80 created his gravesite a state historical marker. He is buried at the Ashepoo River Bridge in Colleton County, SC.
