Kanwari (कुवारी) is a village in Hansi Tehsil of Hissar District in Haryana State of India. It is stuated 24km from Hissar city on Hissar to Tosham Road which leads to Bhiwani. At Kanwari there is another road that leads to Hansi Tehsil. Kanwari is also connected to another village Badayan Jattan via a link road. It is 15km from Tosham town and only 6 km from Nalwa village (where famous industrialist O.P Jindal was born). Kanwari has a population of 5,119, out of which 2407 are female. South West of Kanwari is desert land and rest of the area surrounding kanwari is fertile plain land. Fields of Kanwari Villege are served by a Canal for irrigation. Kanwari has two large ponds (Johad), girls government school and boys government school. Kanwari has an old Shiva temple and Akhara for sadhus (Hindu saints) as well as a temple of village deity called Bua Kunwari (Virgin Aunty) where newly weds go for blessings before entring the village.

Kanwari is an administrative unit and has panchyat. It also has a Patwari (government revenue officer) and ADO (Assistant Development Officer, for development of agricultural activities).

Excerpts of the winning and runner-up translations are printed in an accompanying Rossica journal.
