Job Edwin White III was born in Gainesville, Fl on September 11, 1987, though it is rumored that he is over 7,000 years old and that he was the original space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Some call him a modern prophet of Jesus Christ, while others call him the Anti-Christ. He's openly admits to being both Jesus and the Anti-Christ. In fact, a recent poll in time magazine shows that wikipedia, is a great source of "real information." Short after Time published a magazine entirely dedicated to Job, nicknamed Jobi, saying that Jobi was in fact an ubermensch. Three weeks later Time changed the name of the long running magazine to Jobi, in honor of his accomplishments.

Academy Fight Song is an indepentent record label out of Brooklyn, NY. It was started in November 2005 with the initial intent of releasing a record for Christopher Paul Richards (Q And Not U , Ris Paul Ric). With the release of Purple Blaze on vinyl in 2007, they began to focus on vinyl releases, such as Kevin Devine’s Put Your Ghost To Rest 2xLP and White Rabbits’ Fort Nightly on 180 gram vinyl. They also released Soft’s Gone Faded CD in October 2007 with Silver Sleeve Records, another Brooklyn-based group.

Donald MacCrimmon MacKay was born in Scotland. He graduated in 1943 with a degree in physics from St. Andrews University. He served the British Admiralty for three years, then pursued postgraduate research in computer science, and receied a Ph.D. degree in 1951.

From 1946 to 1960, MacKay lectured in physics at Kings College, London. He moved in 1960 to the University of Keele in Staffordshire, then helped to establish the renowned Department of Communication and Neuroscience, where he continued with his research until he became Emeritus Professor in 1982.

MacKay’s work with computer technology led him to study the differences (rather than the similarities) between the human brain and computers. His research in this field contributed to developments in early information theory and the theory of brain organisation.

In the 1950s, he sought a more complex definition of communication by explicitly counting the "conditional readiness of the receiver." In other words, it is the way information is encountered in its context and medium that determines how a message will be interpreted. MacKay’s notion of "conditional readiness" is a promising alternative to paradigms of communication that discard mediation and noise in favor of the pure transmission of signs.

In 1986 MacKay delivered his course of Gifford Lectures at the University of Glasgow, under the title Under Our Own Microscope: What Brain Science Has to Say about Human Nature. He died the following year from lymphoma. His lectures, edited by his widow, Valerie, with content assistance from his friend Professor Neil Spurway of the University of Glasgow, were posthumously published under the title Behind the Eye in 1991.

MacKay was a frequent writer on issues of common interest to religion and science. His style was spare and logical, and his approach gave glimpses of his underlying Calvinist background. His arguments, although logically precise and rigorous, were quite straightforward...

The Band The Strong Persuaders are a band from Winnipeg consisting of Shane Cameron on guitar and lead vocals, Graham Horsburgh on guitar and back-up vocals, Daniel Kluger on Bass and back-up vocals and Michael Reimer on drums. The Strong Persuaders formed in 2006 after a bass player left and they attained a new one. The Strong Persuaders influences consist of many rock musicians such as Rage Against the Machine, and many blues musicians such as Stevie Ray Vaughan. Shows The Strong Persuaders have played in concerts, talent shows, carnivals, at weddings and at a battle of the bands.

Shaun Webb, born 30 December 1981 in Blenheim, New Zealand, is a rugby union footballer who plays for the World Rugby Club in Japan and the Japanese National team. He play's First Five-Eighth and Fullback.

New Zealand

After attending Christchurch Boys' High School, Webb represented Canterbury at age group level, going on to represent New Zealand at the under 19 world cup in France in 2000 and the under 21 world cup in South Africa in 2002. In 2002 and 2003 he was a member of the Canterbury NPC and Ranfurly Shield squads and in 2003 was drafted into the Crusaders for the Super 12 Competition. In 2004 Webb played out a short term contract for the Calvisano Club in Italy before returning to New Zealand and playing for Otago in the 2004 NPC. At the end of 2004, aged 22, he signed a two year contract in Japan with the Kobe Steel Rugby Club.

Japan

Webb played for the Kobe Steel Rugby Club in Japan for the 2005-2006 Japanese Top League seasons before transfering to the World Rugby Club, also based in Kobe, at the start of 2007. At the end of the 2007 season Webb, having lived in Japan for three years, qualified to play for the Japan national Rugby team. He was selected for the Japan side which won the Asian cup and competed in the Pacific nations cup in 2008, playing mostly Fullback.

Biography

Crowning Glory formed in 2005 in London, England. They play originally-penned metal in the style of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Motorhead. The band have recorded a self-released EP (Path to Glory) and a split 7" record (Dead Man's Paradise) on Rise Above Records and played all over the UK and Ireland with bands such as Orange Goblin, and many more. They have received airplay on Bruce Dickinson's show on BBC Music 6 and played live on BBC Radio 2 on Janice Long's show, as well as having made appearances on Totalrock Radio.

2008 has seen the band tread the boards at two of the UK's premier rock festivals; namely the Bulldog_Bash#2008 and the main stage at Bloodstock_Open_Air. The band plan to record their first full-length album later this year and continue to tour relentlessly.

Khaalid Walls, a native Detroiter, joined the Philadelphia District (USACE) on July 10 as the deputy public affairs officer. He currently holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Detroit’s Wayne State University. Before coming aboard, he was the sole public affairs specialist for the U.S. Army Ordnance Center and Schools located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. That assignment culminated in an Army Certificate of Achievement and the Chief of Ordnance coin. Khaalid began his federal service through the Department of the Army Public Affairs Intern Program, where he participated in training rotations at Fort Eustis, Fort Meade and the Pentagon. His career has revolved primarily around service to others. Before becoming a federal employee, he wrote for the United Auto Workers’ membership publication Solidarity. He later served as the communications coordinator for Covenant House Michigan, a social service agency that provides homeless and at-risk youth shelter and transitional living programs. He is a strong advocate of community organizing and enjoys volunteering in community-based programs. He recently joined Philadelphia’s After-School Activities Partnership, a program that promotes youth engagement in constructive activities as an alternative to street violence

A Paha is a hill or ridge, typically formed of sand and capped with loess.^[1] The word paha means hill in Dakota Sioux.^[2]. The most well known Paha is the paha around which the town of Mount Vernon, Iowa developed.

Origin

An early theory of the origin of the paha hills of Iowa described them as being "composed in part of water-laid sand and silt and in part of ice-moulded till."^[3]

Later, after it came to be understood that loess was wind deposited silt, paha's came to be interpreted as a kind of sand dune. "Their persistent southeasterly trend suggests deposition of the loess by prevailing northwesterly winds, possibly anticyclonic winds blowing from the retreating ice sheet."^[4]

Explaining Pahas as a kind of dune does not explain why they are not shaped like other dune forms. The modern explanation is that the shape of Pahas was the result of the permafrost conditions that dominated glacial till plains of the Iowan surface during the last ice age. Permafrost effects controlled both the way this surface eroded and the way loess accumulated on this surface. ^[5]

Distribution

There is a well-defined band of pahas between Mount Vernon, Iowa and Martelle, crossed by Iowa Highway 1. The large majority of pahas are in Benton, Lynn, Johnson and Jones counties in Iowa. These are on the Iowan surface in north-east Iowa. Paha ridges have also been identified on the Kansan surface, generally not far from Iowa.^[6]

Casey's Paha State Preserve in Hickory Hills County Park, Tama County, Iowa preserves the south-east end of a two-mile long (3 Km) paha.

Speculum of the Other Woman (Speculum de l'autre femme) is a book written by Luce Irigaray. It was first published in 1985 in English, translated by Gillian C. Gill, and in 1974 in French.

Speculum of the Other Woman was published as Irigaray's doctoral thesis, for which she was expelled from the University of Vincennes (where she taught, havinh been trained as a Lacanian psychoanalyst) for her critique of the institution of psychoanalysis. It is structured with a large essay at the front and back, and several small essays in the middle. The essay at the front, The Blind Spot of An Old Dream of Symmetry, is on Freud; the last, Plato's Hystera, is on Plato. The middle part is called Speculum, which refers to the special rounded mirror used by gynaecologists.

The Saban Bowl is the name given to the annual football contest between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Fighting Tigers. Both schools compete in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

While Alabama and LSU have mantained a rivalry since 1902, the term "Saban Bowl" was first used in 2007, when Alabama head coach Nick Saban coached against LSU(his former team) for the first time. This caused the rivalry between the two schools to entensify.

In the first Saban Bowl, LSU beat Alabama 41-34; this was the highest scoring contest ever in series history. It featured five lead changes and five turnovers between the two teams, with a late Alabama fumble making the difference.

Lateral impact Noodle testing: Theory and Execution

The key to any gourmet noodle dish is the quality of the noodles. Quality of noodles is a relative term, both determined by the store purchased quality of noodle and the cooking skill and dexterity put into making the noodles. Cooking technique, and a new process in regards to pasta, follows in this article. That is, the lateral impact test.

In discussing this, we bypass the basic step of pasta selection and initial preparation and instead consider determining whether said noodles and their gluten content have reached an appropriate level of doneness.

The Lateral Impact Test: The Lateral Impact Test begins like many conventional noodle tests; the removal of several testing noodles from the boiling pot. (FoodNetwork.com reccomends using a slotted spoon) The conventional way of consumption, with the intent to test for noodle stickiness, is effective and still reccomended yet the lateral impact test adds a touch of flair that the traditional way fails to tap into. Allow the noodle to cool upon the slotted spoon for several seconds before beginning.(As a side note, this does add a margin of error as the noodle continues to cook as it cools.) Now firmly grasp the noodle and find a wall that is relatively free of picture hangings and cabinets. Now the critical part of the test: wind back as you to throw a baseball, and heave that noodle onto the wall, keeping in mind that the goal is to determine whether the noodle is sufficiently boiled. This means that the noodle is soft enough to allow enough surface area to form a contact bond with the wall. I.E. If the noodle sticks, it has reached an appropriate doneness.

Big in Japan is a club softball team based in Washington, D.C. Big in Japan has existed in some form since 2005. The team plays in the competitive Congressional Softball League [4]. For the last three seasons, Big in Japan have been one of the elite teams in House softball, making the 1st Annual House Softball Tournament in 2006 [5] and again in 2007 [6]. Big in Japan is heavily favored to again make the tournament, held each year in Clifton, VA [7].

History

Big in Japan was the brainchild of Jason Levine, a then staffer for Governor Pataki of New York [8]. Levine formed the club team in the spring of 2006 out of the ashes of his former team, Varying States of Confusion, which disbanded due in part to its aging players and the demands of their personal lives. Looking for a fresh start, Levine took several VSC players with him to form the nucleus that would become Big in Japan.

As Big in Japan was taking shape, a new Congressional Softball League was being formed [9] by Anthony Reed [10]. As a player/coach, Levine steered the young team to a 12-6 regular season record for their maiden season [11].

Origins of the team name

The team name is typically pronounced "BIG-IN-jaPAN", but their one-time player/manager Jason Levine called them by the old-fashioned colloquial pronunciation "BIG-uh-IN-JApan". Newspaper writers and other teams in the league also often referred to the team as "B.I.J." during their early days.

The impetus behind the "Big in Japan" name is hotly contested. Some fans point to young catcher Kelly Blakemore's burgeoning art career [12] by asking her:

'Unknown: Have you ever sold any of your work?

'KB: One piece, to the Japanese Consulate...'

'Unknown: So...you're pretty huge in Japan then?'

'KB: Yeah, you could say that'

Other experts indicate that the sheer youth and skill of the team in 2006 led others to believe that they had played together for much longer- perhaps in another softball playing country such as Japan.

Uniform Emblem

Over the past three seasons, the Big in Japan uniform has typically paid homage to their awesomeness to some extent. During the 2006 season, uniforms featured "Big in Japan" spelled out in script across the front while the logo featured a tattooed, snarling, muscle bound pirate. Pitcher Chandler Lockhart had several attempts summarily thwarted as he attempted to change the logo to a sweet, howling wolf. Additionally, the jersey featured the year of team’s inception, 2006.

In 2007, the team wore home uniforms with "Big in Japan" spelled out in ghoulish script and a graphic of a young child in the shadow of Godzilla, said to represent "the sleeping demon that is found in everyone and capable of powering us all." Third baseman Andy Levy employed the image in the midst of a lengthy design debate. The 2007 jerseys were red with black logos, scripts, numbers, names and ringers around the neck and sleeves.

Jerseys for the 2008 season feature a return to the traditional white jersey with red ringers. The 2008 jerseys also incorporate a design that works on multiple levels- employing the image of a snakehead fish. The snakehead has become an invasive species in the District of Columbia [13] and decimates other species, much like the team [14].

Trivia

Outfielder Stephen Milbank frequently wears eye-black and the maximum number of league approved wristbands.

Catcher Erin McCurdy makes frequent trips to the pitchers mound to address eccentric pitcher Chandler Lockhart [15] and "talk him down from the ledge" as the "delicate mechanisms of his sanity/effectiveness are precariously balanced." These visits often end in McCurdy striking Lockhart in the buttocks with her catcher’s mitt.

Big in Japan has traditionally utilized a Jewish male at third base.

DUNK-O's are a prominent feature at home games. Most famously, in 2006, catcher Erin McCurdy and second basewoman Jillian Carroll performed the infamous Fighting Mermaid Double Dunk-O.

Previous gags include a bagpiper hired to perform a tournament “pump-up jam.”

Introduction

Sam Bell is a rock/shred guitarist from the south of England. He is widely rekonised in his local area. He has been featured in Total Guitar Magazine and has been top 8 myspace guitarist for guitar player magazine. He has also appeared internationally on Breakthrough Radio in New York.

History

Sam Bell was born on 8/9/88 in Harrogate, Yorkshire. At the age of 6 Sam moved to Chichester were he has lived ever since. Sam was surrounded by various music as he grew up. Sam first started playing guitar at the age of six. He would use his mothers acoustic to learn bob dylan songs, then at the age of 9 sam began learning Jimi Hendrix and Chuck Berry songs aswell as other blues songs. Sam then stopped playing guitar for a few years during high school due to shattering his arm in a sport related accident. After leaving high school he saw a magazine artical which featured yngwie malmsteen, sam studied malmsteen's techniques and began discovering other influences such as: Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, Rusty Cooley, Shawn Lane and Larry carlton. Sam then decided to study music at College. He studied music at Chichester college for three years. during this time Sam appeared at local jam nights in which he has found himself jamming with the likes of Tony Moore (Cutting Crew and Iron Maiden) and Debbie Bonham (John Bonham's sister). he has also played for various bands such Black Lion and Euro Macho Boys. Sam has gained popularity from appearing on various websites, radio stations, newspapers and magazines. he is signed to a small independant label Tiki Records with who he created his album "Sides Of The Monkey Man" this album is a instrumental album on which sam explores soft rock fusion. but since the album was released he has re-recorded some of the tracks aswell as numerous new songs. Sam is now studying a B.A Honours Degree In Guitar at Brighton Institute Of Modern Music(BIMM).
