2013 Albany death ray plot

Not a notable topic. Although the event did receive news coverage for a couple of days when the story broke, the coverage was very short-term in scope, and did not have any sort of lasting effect. Because the coverage was temporary, whereas notability is not, routine news coverage that the article received is not proof of notability, and I can see no mention of in-depth analysis of the situation. I'd say that this falls more under the category of WP:ROUTINE- just a failed, amateur terrorist plot. Slon02 (talk) 19:38, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Weak Keep Let's see, is this a run-of-the-mill "routine" crime story? Nope. A technician from General Electric, who is allegedly a Ku Klux Klan and Tea Party member, allegedly assisted by a computer expert and others, allegedly designed and built a remote-controlled Death ray device using high-powered X-ray equipment, which the FBI says would have worked to administer lethal radiation doses when completed had they not sabotaged it, to be operated near the target from inside a van,and allegedly contacted Jewish organizations and allegedly offered to use it to kill "enemies of Israel" including Muslims and President Obama. The FBI Counterterrorism Task Force then tracked the efforts from April 2012 until late June, when arrests were made as the device was allegedly being prepared for a test. "Failed?" Only because of FBI sabotage. "Amateur?" No, sounds quite competent and dangerous, and far beyond earlier "death ray" efforts. The "Keep" is downgraded to "Weak" due to there not being all that much continuing coverage since the story broke about 19 June 2013, tapering off surprisingly rapidly. If it is redirected to Death ray, where the alleged plot has a brief mention, than it could always be expanded into an article in the future if there are more developments and more coverage occurs. Comment: If we choose not to keep this page, then perhaps it should be moved to Wikinews, and this should be made an interwiki redirect? Other than that, I agree with the keep reasoning of Edison. --HighFlyingFish (talk) 23:46, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
