The result was no consensus with permission to renominate immediately. The rewrite in the middle makes the situation a mess. Stifle (talk) 16:12, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Largely incoherent, unsourced and my cursory googling would suggest this is just a surname with no real stated significance. Sulfurboy (talk) 22:19, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
- DeleteAs per above also could not find anything .It is incoherent .Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 22:48, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

- (Weak) redirect to Darod, though I think "Absame kuumade" may be an implausible target – in which case, delete. See also Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Somalia#Sub-clan articles and redirects and/or Talk:Darod#Redirects to Darod. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:45, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Delete as non-notable. Almost gibberish and certainly WP:OR. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 21:21, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- Delete as it is. I think that there is a translation issue here and "son" is really "subclan". If you take the word "son" out of the context then the article seems to be about the Somali clan - and there are 13 other articles that could be linked to Absame clan or Absame (clan). I'm not sure what "kuumade" is supposed to represent, apparently it's Ethyopian for "hot". I found enough for a short article with either of the previously stated names.--CaroleHenson (talk) 01:17, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

- Excellent work Carole, I would fully support a delete/replace with the work done above. Whatever is easiest. Sulfurboy (talk) 04:33, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- Ok, I moved the article over to main space and linked other articles to it, so it's good to go. It sounds like your ready for the redirect to the new article. I can do that, too.--CaroleHenson (talk) 04:56, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
Done I didn't remove the AfD tag so that it doesn't mess up the administrator's step for wrapping this up, but the article is pointed to the correct article. Thanks Surfurboy!--CaroleHenson (talk) 05:12, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

- I appreciate your efforts, but I still think that, as-is, this could just as well be a redirect to Darod. The "Overview" section doesn't cite any sources, and the "Clan structure" section is an excerpt of that in Darod. Also, the "Further reading" items seem more to do with Somalia (or Somalis) in general and aren't specifically about this clan. Given all that, there isn't really anything here that isn't already covered in the Darod article. Finally, as this AfD discussion is still open, I've restored the AfD template to the article (Absame kuumade has been moved to Absame; Absame clan redirects to Absame and content was pasted there). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 16:31, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- @Gyrofrog: Yes, you raise some good points. I tried researching for sources for the original content about where Absame clan members lived and wasn't finding anything easily. If that's gone, then, your right - if there are no additions, it should be redirected to Darod. I think that this article could be expanded further - just as there are many important articles about Native American nations in the United States - to capture the history and culture of the Absame people. If there is interest in having that explored, I'd love to work on it. If not, I agree with the redirect.--CaroleHenson (talk) 16:41, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- For instance, see Marehan.--CaroleHenson (talk) 16:47, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

- I should have specified {{R with possibilities}} (or {{R from subtopic}}). Any of these sub-topics could be expanded, just that most of the cases have been similar to this one. Marehan is a good example where the history is well-attested (which I think was your point). (However, I believe it is a larger and/or more prominent clan, so there may simply be more literature about it.) Thanks again, -- Gyrofrog (talk) 16:55, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- Delete or re-direct to Darod per Gyrofrog. Largely covered there. Middayexpress (talk) 17:07, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached.
- Relisting comment: Please have in mind that during the nomination the original text was overwritten, and now we discuss a different article, written by CaroleHenson. Most of the above argumentation refers to the original (overwritten) article--Ymblanter (talk) 07:54, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

- Redirect Absame (the current article) to Darod, as per my comments from 9 January (referring to the current, revised version). The current text cites only one source, and this information is excerpted from Darod in the first place. The remainder lacks any sources, so effectively there's no content to merge – just redirect. As CaroleHenson states, this has potential for expansion ({{R with possibilities}}), especially as it encompasses Ogaden (clan) and Aulihan, articles which do stand on their own. I supposed one other possibility would be to merge and redirect Ogaden (clan) and Aulihan to Absame. Again, the discussions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Somalia#Sub-clan articles and redirects and Talk:Darod#Redirects to Darod are applicable here. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 16:24, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- Keep. The clan exists, which is supported by the references (I added 2 more), I can see no reason why there should not be a separate article for it, and technically the referenced content now exceeds the coverage in Darod. The further reading, btw, contains page numbers. I think we should assume in good faith that these entries support particular statements from the article, even if it is not spelled out which ones. --Pgallert (talk) 07:11, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
