The result was keep. somewhat to my surprise, it is or was a major brand; the article needs expansion;, similar to the slightly fuller article on Corian Since Solid surface covers a very wide range of materials it's not a suitable merge, and I think we would usually keep articles on well known brands separate. Okay, so here we have an article that no-one really thinks ought to exist. Instead, it is merely a non-notable proprietory brand name and hence only serves an an advert rather than conveying useful material; it was previously only de-PRODed in order to propose a merge (later rejected). No independent sources. - Jarry1250 [Weasel? Discuss.] 00:20, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep Although the current version of the article is poor and unreferenced, the product is notable. I plan to improve and reference the article in the next few days. Here are some examples of significant coverage in reliable, independent sources:
- Slabs of Color, Popular Science, June, 1989
- High-Tech Countertop: How to build a new countertop with the latest material, Popular Mechanics, April, 1990
- Cabinets and Countertops, Taunton Press, 2006
- A Solid History: Reviewing 40 Years Of Solid Surface, Surface Fabrication, November, 2007
- The professional practice of architectural detailing, Wiley, 1987
- Disclosure: I have worked professionally with solid surface materials similar to Avonite for many years, although I derive very little income from this specific brand. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:56, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Good job finding sourcing. You've convinced me that Avonite belongs in WP, although I suspect that it belongs within the Solid surface article, rather than a freestanding one, perhaps within a section providing capsule summaries of the established brands with their distinctive elements. Then again, if it turns out that there is enough material to justify its own encyclopedia entry (while avoid becoming a how-to manual), I would be happy to get behind that. --Hobbes Goodyear (talk) 18:17, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
