As this article is not a populated, legally recognived place, WP:GEOLAND requires another indication of notability. However, the only sources I could find for this place are the two atlases which this article cites, and no indication is given of why this article meets WP:GNG. - Delete and Merge- to Cappadocia which seems a possible ATD for me given its description of being a part of ___location wise, unable to find standalone articles with SIGCOV featuring the ___location, to be fair. given its description of being a ___location existed in ancient times, contemporary sources covering the ___location would likely be scarce, did try searching in Google Books instead, which does seem to have the ___location mentioned more, however with what I've tried to look into so far have been just just passing mentions or about certain persons of that ___location but not about the ___location itself. - Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: Relisting. The argument that we should Delete this article and then Merge it makes no sense. After it is deleted, it's impossible to merge it. Do you mean "Merge and Delete"?

- Keep. Talbert is saying that we don't have ancient manuscript evidence of the town's existence, but that we do have ancient epigraphic evidence, however his work is only talking about the period through the 7th century CE. We do have evidence that the town continued to exist (and was legally recognized) in the later Byzantine period, as it had a bishop who was tried for heresy (I've selected one reference that has a fairly complete telling of the story, but it's found in more abbreviated form in other sources such as the Oxford Intellectual History of Byzantium) Jahaza (talk) 22:17, 15 August 2025 (UTC)

- Keep In addition to the sources mentioned by Jahaza, the source "La géographie historique de l'Anatolie centrale d'après les registres ottomans, communication du 30 avril 1982" [1] has information about how the name Balbissa was adapted to Turkish, as Valisa / Valsa, Veli Isa. It also says that it was completely Islamicised by the 16th century, so it was clearly populated at that date. It also seems to be the place where the Veliisa Stele was found. I'll see what other sources I can find to confirm that identification, and add the info to the article. RebeccaGreen (talk) 16:01, 22 August 2025 (UTC)
