The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the article below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the article's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this page.

The result was no consensus. With no contribution in three weeks and one person on each side, relisting and spinning the wheel again is unlikely to be constructive. WP:NPASR applies. Stifle (talk) 13:51, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I nominated the firm for deletion last month, but the article was perhaps not reasonably kept at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/NCH Software (2nd nomination). This does not however imply that all its products are notable, and I don't think this is. Most of the contents of the article is a copy from the article on the firm--as there isn't enough worth saying about this program--almost all the refs here are about the firm in general DGG ( talk ) 06:31, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per the significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources.
    1. Ellis, Cat (2020-01-29). "Debut Video Capture review. An amazingly capable free screen recorder, and much more". TechRadar. Archived from the original on 2021-03-09. Retrieved 2021-03-09.

The review notes, "Debut’s interface isn’t the most attractive, but what it lacks in gloss, it makes up for in clarity. Everything is clearly labelled, and you’ll never be left casting around for the option you need.  ... The design really doesn't matter, though – Debut is exceptionally capable video capture software, and can easily serve as the heart of a home security system."

    2. Chadwick, J. D. (2020-09-14). "Debut Video Capture Pro review. Debut Video Capture Pro is a top quality video capture and screen recording program, but it's missing one essential feature". Top Ten Reviews. Archived from the original on 2021-03-09. Retrieved 2021-03-09.

The review notes, "The main drawback of Debut is that is doesn't have a built-in editor. ... In terms of quality, the finished video created by Debut was very good, but not the best. Our video experts examined the video created with Debut and noted minor problems with pixelation and jumpiness in parts of the video. And while it's not as smooth and clear as the video produced from the award winners, it comes close."

    3. Nawrocki, Matthew (2012-05-11). "Review: NCH Software Debut Video Capture. Debut Video Capture gives you all the tools you need for professional video capture while keeping the experience consistent". TechRepublic. Archived from the original on 2021-03-09. Retrieved 2021-03-09.

The review notes, "However, during my use of the tool, not everything was perfect. I had issues getting the configuration for the AVI file format settings, which eventually caused the program to hang and crash. ... Also, when the application would first load, sometimes the mouse would stick momentarily and then unstick itself within a few seconds. These issues aren't serious by any means, but they might slow you down a bit at first."

    4. Popa, Bogdan (2021-03-06). "Debut Video Capture and Screen Recorder Software". Softpedia. Archived from the original on 2021-03-09. Retrieved 2021-03-09.

The review notes, "Everything worked very smooth during our test, but a minor slowdown in performance on slower computers may be noticed. To sum up, Debut Video Capture and Screen Recorder Software is one of the best apps of its kind and in case you wish to record screen activity either for tutorials or just for fun, perhaps you can consider giving this app a try."

    5. "Debut Pro Video Screen Recorder Editors' Review". Download.com. CNET. 2011-03-11. Archived from the original on 2021-03-09. Retrieved 2021-03-09.

The review notes, "The ability to work well with a wide range of such devices sets Debut apart from less capable shareware and freeware video recording tools."

There is sufficient coverage in reliable sources to allow Debut Video Capture to pass Wikipedia:Notability#General notability guideline, which requires "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject".
