The result was speedy keep. A major league Baseball player is unquestionably notable. Careless nomination, for it could easily have been verified. DGG ( talk ) 07:45, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DELETE. Does not appear to have received any kind of non-trivial coverage from reliable third party publications. The material sources cited within the article are actually pertaining to his son, not him. JBsupreme (talk) 18:02, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- KeepHes a major league baseball player and the references are listed.67.33.105.219 (talk) 18:14, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep This is one of the most egregiously dumb deletion nominations I have seen. Alex (talk) 19:32, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Do either of you two have anything to back this up or are you going to resort to personal attacks? The "references are listed" is false as I've just indicated in my nomination. (!) JBsupreme (talk) 21:08, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment How about instead of nominating it for deletion, you take the five minutes to fix the problem then? Alex (talk) 22:08, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong Keep As a professional baseball player, he easily meents guidelines for notability. One reference for this is already listed on the page. others can be found. [1] Edward321 (talk) 00:09, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Edward's link above is gold, and other sources are available. I just added a Chicago Defender reference to the article. It seems that Simpson was a very well-regarded prospect at one point. By the way, can anyone access this? We could use that to cite the claim that he was "considered one of the fastest players of his day". Zagalejo^^^ 02:03, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - professional baseball player (as sources show) so meets WP:ATHLETE. GiantSnowman 11:24, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep MLB players are noteable. Admrboltz (talk) 20:56, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
