Existence detection

This reads like and extract from a how-to guide rather than discussion of a notable concept. While the term obviously does exist in the sense it's being used here (existence of files) [1]. There are many more hits for "existence detection" in the sense of detecting the existence of real-world objects in images [2] [3].
