- Comment - MLS is obviously fully-pro so the issue here is that while he played a full season for their junior squad last year, he hasn't yet played a full-season, top-flight game for the Chicago Fire, right? Obviously WP:TOOSOON but the season starts in a month. I'd be happy to see this incubated until then (until he takes the field in that first game on 9 March) but a couple of re-lists and this AFD becomes a moot point anyway. - Keep - actually, having had a better look, I found this article in the Chicago Tribune which calls him, "one of the nation’s leading college soccer players", and this article which confirms he was, "named 2013 ACC Offensive Player of the Year and garnered All-ACC First Team honors". This article calls him, "one of college soccer's brightest stars". That's more than just routine "x signs y" coverage and it's enough for me. Stalwart111 00:22, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

- Keep - He was nominated for the Hermann Trophy. He has therefore competed at the highest level of amateur soccer in the USA, and meets WP:ATHLETE. Also a complete waste of our time, as he's clearly going to be appearing for the Chicago Fire in a few weeks. He's already credited with creating 2 goals last week in a friendly game against DC United [1] Nfitz (talk) 03:43, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- Keep - appears to meet WP:GNG. Please note - talking largely to @Nfitz: here, that statements like " he's clearly going to be appearing for the Chicago Fire in a few weeks" are not based in fact and a direct violation of WP:CRYSTAL. GiantSnowman 12:41, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- WP:CRYSTAL is a [content policy] and content policies apply to articles, not talk pages. The nomination is an argument from WP:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions#Just pointing at a policy or guideline. Unscintillating (talk) 01:25, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- Applying WP:CRYSTAL to this is a complete violation of WP:COMMONSENSE. Lets stop playing WP:WHACAMOLE Nfitz (talk) 04:55, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- Keep - per Stalwart, reliable substantial coverage provided of significant achievements at college level, regardless of CRYSTAL-violating aruments elsewhere in the AfD. Fenix down (talk) 12:24, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
