The result was keep. As 4meter4 correctly asserts, the COI issue is insufficient grounds for deleting an article about a notable topic, especially once other, non-COI editors contribute to it. Any COI or PROMO concerns can be addressed by editing. Discarding the !votes that are based solely on COI or promotional tone, I see consensus to keep the page. Owen× ☎ 20:08, 24 August 2025 (UTC)

Frankly we are not here to be his digital marketer. None of the references are independent of him nor deal with him in detail. Maungapohatu (talk) 07:38, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

- Comment. Still deciding whether I land on a weak keep or a weak delete, but just noting that the nomination rationale doesn't discuss the two relevant notability criteria here, which are WP:NPROF and WP:NAUTHOR. He has a notable sole-authored book ([1] [2] [3]) and 1.5 notable edited volumes ([4] [5] [6]). His citation record is not too far off WP:NPROF#C1, and more subjectively he does seem to be relatively influential in his niche field of digital diplomacy. He's also a co-chief editor of Place Branding and Public Diplomacy, which seems to be relatively well-regarded and indexed, but I'm not sure it quite meets the WP:NPROF#C8 standard of being a
major well-established academic journal
. MCE89 (talk) 08:49, 10 August 2025 (UTC) - Weak Keep for WP:Prof. Xxanthippe (talk) 10:05, 10 August 2025 (UTC).
- Weak Keep. We don't have a Wikipedia page for this journal so no, I don't think it's "major" but it is well-established, having been published for over twenty years. I would not assert that it easily meets C8. But he's also at least close under C1, I suspect (we should check against other notable scholars in this field if we can identify them, but I am not sure how to do that given how specialized it is). NAUTHOR is to my mind also at least pretty close, with multiple reviews of that book. So to me, this person is borderline and I tend to want to keep the page as a result. Qflib (talk)
- Delete. I agree with nom. Doesn't meet NPROF and NAUTHOR and the article is really bad, so why stretch to include him? gidonb (talk) 02:07, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
- Delete. I agree that the subject meets WP:NPROF#C8. However, the creator of the page clearly has a conflict of interest which they refused to declare. This is sufficiently visible in the previous draft of the page which contained many statements about his personal life unavailable anywhere on the internet. Therefore, I concur to Maungapohatu's statement "we are not here to be his digital marketer." There is barely any independent sources stating his work apart from book reviews. - Keep - as it meets WP:Prof based on discussion above by MCE89.Mysecretgarden (talk) 09:39, 12 August 2025 (UTC)

- Keep. Passes WP:NPROF#C8. The COI issue is concerning, but that is not a notability problem and is an issue for the COI noticeboard to handle not AFD.4meter4 (talk) 13:53, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
