• Keep I agree that this is a frustrating term to look for, because it gets shadowed by all the other uses of this terminology; however, a Google Books search does turn up a number of clear definitions. Here's one that lays it out quite clearly. It's a thing, just needs a few of these sources added. The counterpart "vertical expansion" is covered at Vertical_integration#Vertical_expansion (although that's a completely unsourced section as well...) --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 23:42, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
