No indication this obscure Tolkien trivia goes beyond WP:PLOT and passes WP:NFICTION/WP:GNG. Quite a few of Tolkien fiction plot devices are notable; he has been studied and written about a lot. But not this one. Still, it's Tolkien, so let's skip PROD and discuss it here.
