Non-notable newsgroup. Fork of a newsgroup that's red linked, no reliable sources found. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Chirps•Clams•Chowder) 00:59, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Using WP:WEB in the absence of any established standard for USENET groups by themselves, this article does not pass. There may be thousands of Google hits, but those are almost exclusively sites that archive USENET groups, and thus are simply mirrors of the group. Google Groups is nothing more than Google's own USENET feed. This is really no different than the web-based forums that have since come into being. Only in very exceptional cases do those web forums pass WP:WEB. This is not an exceptional case. DarkAudit (talk) 01:06, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment. Coverage of this newsgroup in reliable sources apparently exists, but is hidden. http://news.google.com/archivesearch?q=rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs shows two articles that mention the newsgroup, but one link is broken and the other is behind a paywall. Nonetheless, both articles exist. --Eastmain (talk) 02:17, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Reply These are textbook examples of mention "in passing" as part of a wider article. such a mention is specifically mentioned as not passing WP:WEB. DarkAudit (talk) 03:23, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
