I'm not really seeing how being the mayor of Cairns is sufficient for notability. Long-unreferenced BLP as well. Well it was, but the subject is no longer alive as of November 2011. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 06:31, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article is also not a BLP as the subject appears to have passed away. I believe sources shown support WP:GNG for a keep argument. --LauraHale (talk) 12:13, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • More usefully, searching for Thomas Alfred Pyne cains obiturary -wikipedia turns up a swathe of obituaries full of evidence of notability [1]. Stuartyeates (talk) 18:51, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I did a google search for the following: Tom Pyne Cairns. There were notable newspaper sources in the first few results, even with Wikipedia results showing. There were at least three on the first page mentioning his passing. --LauraHale (talk) 20:14, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This article needs more sources, but it's clear that they exist. Subject easily passes WP:GNG, as you'd expect of the mayor of a large town (100K+ population). Meelar (talk) 23:43, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Mayor of a city of well over 100,000 people seems to me to meet our notability requirements. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:08, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
