Just clarifying, the "controversies" section is the CRUFT that I was referring to. I'm not opposed to using some examples in prose, but (to me at least) it reads like a trivia section. -"Ghost of Dan Gurney" 13:39, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The "controversies" section offers useful descriptions of the historic application of this rule. Though it could be narrowed down to cases in which the application of the rule directly affected who won the race. Doing so would satisfy the WP:TRIVIA guideline of "a selectively populated list with a relatively narrow theme is not necessarily trivia, and can be the best way to present some types of information."
