Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: automatic
Programming language(s): Rust
Source code available: https://github.com/fee1-dead/defcon
Function overview: Revival of Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/APersonBot 5. Same-old updating User:EnterpriseyBot/defcon.
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): User talk:Enterprisey#EnterpriseyBot no longer updating defcon
Edit period(s): Continuous
Estimated number of pages affected: 1
Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): No
Already has a bot flag (Yes/No): Yes
Function details: Old bot has been down (last edit was manually triggered and ran by me). I've gone ahead and rewritten/updated parts of the old defcon bot in hopes of making it more reliable.
I have access to the old botpassword used but my new MediaWiki library only supports OAuth, so I'll be taking over the task on my bot.
Discussion
editApproved for trial (50 edits or 7 days, whichever happens first). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Just to make sure the wheels aren't going to fall off. Primefac (talk) 23:47, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Trial complete. See this for the edits made. dbeef [talk] 08:48, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @Dbeef: Seems the bot has made 3 more edits after this post was made. Did you forget to turn the task off by chance? Jalen Barks (Woof) 02:15, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- perhaps the edit count tracking for trial is malfunctioning. I have blocked the bot for now as a temporary fix while I'm on mobile. dbeef [talk] 02:50, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- You forgot to add
return Ok(());
after line 124, which currently only logs the message and does not return. – DreamRimmer ■ 17:03, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]- That's an oversight. Tbh I haven't looked at it. The trial code will be deleted once this is approved so I haven't bothered changing and deploying it. Indef blocked the bot from the page to fix for now. dbeef [talk] 11:49, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Approved. No problem at all. I just noticed it and thought to point it out. – DreamRimmer ■ 12:48, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
