Propose deleting Category:Communities in Carmarthenshire (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Nominator's rationale: There seems to be confusion here, this category contains electoral wards but there is already Category:Carmarthenshire electoral wards. 'Community' is the term in Wales for a civil parish (political division) and there is already Category:Communities of Carmarthenshire containing the 70+ communities of the county. I think the simplest solution is to delete this confusing duplicate. Sionk (talk) 21:42, 9 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Merge to Category:Carmarthenshire electoral wards. IN Wales a community is the equivalent of a civil parish in England. Category:Communities in Carmarthenshire could theoretically exist, but we rarely have articles on parishes (as distinct from villages), so that it is probably unnecessary. Propose merging Category:Communications technology to Category:Telecommunications techniques

Nominator's rationale: I realise technology is not synonymous to technique and neither is telecommunication to communication. Still it evades me what exactly the difference is. Maybe these categories can be joined in some way to make the structure of the superior category easier to grasp. If they are not to be merged possibly someone could add an introductory sentence to both categories explaining their relation.

I support elimination of Category:Communications technology. Pretty much everything in the Telecommunications category tree is about technology. It's redundant to have a "technology" category within it; the articles that are/were a random assortment of articles that ought to be in other categories. I've moved a few of them. I oppose blindly moving everything to Category:Telecommunications techniques.--Srleffler (talk) 05:42, 10 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also Category:Home automation should be merged into Category:Building automation. Yes, building automation reaches further than home automation but the overwhelming majority of articles related to any one of those categories should be added to the other one as well. Or, to put it differently: If only articles related to home automation and NOT to building automation were to remain in home automation, this category would probably be almost empty and hence could as well be merged.

By the way, is it correct that Category:Automation is part of Category:Control engineering or should it be the other way around?
