The result of the discussion was: merge. Nominated category was empty at close.. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:21, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Pluralization as per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (plurals). Kyuko (talk) 19:54, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Purge, with many articles it is not clear why they are in this category in the first place. Also, in some other articles the term Haskalah is used instead of Maskil so I wonder whether we need to merge both categories to Category:Haskalah. Finally it is a borderline case of definingness. If kept, I agree with nom about pluralization. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:43, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: delete in the spirit of WP:OVERLAPCAT, this category has no added value as it only contains by-century subcategories while we already have Category:Catholic Church councils by century. Marcocapelle (talk) 12:09, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: User has also recently created List of Iranian artifacts abroad, and added Xerxes I inscription at Van and Darius the Great's Suez Inscriptions in modern Turkey and Egypt respectively. This seems to be an attempt to claim anything from Persian empires of antiquity as belonging to modern-day Iran. Also we don't categorise artifacts by "not in "original" country", the closest is dividing some of the most populated categories in Category:Archaeological collections such as British Museum and Louvre by department. Nominator's rationale: Creator was obviously not aware of the existing name hierarchy, and this doesn't really fit in the likes of Category:Names by language. Le Deluge (talk) 08:55, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@User:Marcocapelle, If you're not aware, names can have multiple origins and the wikipedia pages themselves say root words and names have latin origin likethe Angleica wikipedia's page says "Angelica comes from the Latin angelicus ("angelic")" this is right before the greek origin sentence. You should have seen that if you looked at the page. And Ava has multiple origns as well including a latin origin. source. And even if this is false, what does this have to do with this deletion proces anyway? ₛₒₘₑBₒdyₐₙyBₒdy₀₅ (talk) 16:21, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:SHAREDNAME, and "Latin origin" begs the question of what sort of origin makes it Latin? A name that is Anglicized versions of Old French which comes from Vulgar Latin? A name that is Spanish from Vulgar Latin? What if the name in Latin is attested in Oscan or Etruscan antecedents, is Latin no longer the "origin" but merely a conduit? These are best handled in sourced lists where these distinctions can be made and sourced. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 21:50, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging
more Architecture by city categories
more Landmarks by city categories
Nominator's rationale: merge, these are two almost empty category layers except they largely duplicate the tree of buildings and structures. Following this, I will also nominate the architecture and landmarks categories by district which suffer from the same problem as the ones by city. Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:PERFCAT and WP:OCAWARD)
When foreign leaders visit Colombia, or vice versa, the Order of Boyaca is given out as souvenir to commemorate the visit. Chiang Kai-shek, Albert I of Belgium, and Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld are not remotely defined by this award. (The award is not exclusively for foreigners though with about a fourth of category consisting of Colombians and, of those, 7 mention the award in passing—1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7—and 3 not at all—8, 9, 10—so it's not defining for them either.) The recipients are already listified here in the main article. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:42, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:OCAWARD)
These 3 categories have 3 articles total and I'm not sure why any of them actually received the Order of the Star of Anjouan, a French colonial award for the Comoros. Raoul Magrin-Vernerey and Marie-Pierre Kœnig were both life-long military officers so maybe they were stationed in the Comoros at some point? Pakubuwono X was royalty from what was then the Dutch East Indies so maybe he visited the Comoros at some point? Beyond the award, none of the 3 articles even mention the Comoros so whatever this was for doesn't seem defining. There wasn't a list so I created one right here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:42, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
