Nominator's rationale: Category:Wikipedia header templates was initially intended only for templates in Wikipedia namespace, as its categorization into Category:Wikipedia namespace templates and hatnote link to Wikipedia:Template messages/Wikipedia namespace both indicate. Since then, however, a lot of different header templates accreted in this category. Examples:
  1. Category:Backlog templates‎ is full of templates for usage in not only in Wikipedia namespace, but also in categories such as {{Admin backlog}}.
  2. Template:User sandbox and Category:Essay header templates‎, which are often used in User namespace.
  3. Template:IPA key, which is used in Help namespace.

Nominator's rationale: Merging category overlap (albeit minor) to harmonize with majority of subcategories in here. It doesn't seem necessary to split this into three since the MP term categories have it covered, and in two articles there's a clear overlap. ミラP 14:54, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  1. These are different posts. The Parliament of England, Parliament of Great Britain and Parliament of the United Kingdom are separate bodies.
  2. None of these categories are under-sized. There are 114 MPs in total, broken down as follows:
  3. The overlap is trivial. Of the 111 MPs on whom we have current articles, only 4 are in in more than one category. WP:OVERLAPCAT applies to categories with "a large overlap", but this overlap applies to less than 4% of the set ... so WP:OVERLAPCAT does not apply.
  4. Merging will pollute the category trees for Category:Members of the Parliament of England (pre-1707), Category:Members of the Parliament of Great Britain and Category:Members of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. This impedes maintenance using WP:AWB and analysis using tools such as Petscan, and misleads readers into thinking that these three parliaments were the same thing.
So there is no policy-based or logical reason to merge these categories ... and very good reason to not merge. The other recently-created subcats of Category:Members of Parliament by constituency are mostly recent creations by User:Miraclepine and User:Philafrenzy should be similarly split to match the older subcats such as Category:Ipswich MPs, Category:Members of Parliament for constituencies in Devon, Category:Derbyshire MPs etc.

@BrownHairedGirl: Fine, I'll withdraw this due to how persuasive your words are, and ask User:Rathfelder to recategorize every page in the other cats into similar subcats. But the category's still being speedy-renamed. ミラP 03:28, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
