Nominator's rationale: Categories are not lists. This just contains the unversity page. These categories need to be listified and contextualized. I encourage the user who created all of these categories to review the purpose of categories.SMasonGarrison 23:40, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine with the conversion if you think that would be more useful. Jjazz76 (talk) 00:23, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be useful and interesting. Although I think you should start with the two core lists List of colleges and universities sanctioned by the American Association of University Professors and List of colleges and universities censured by the American Association of University Professors. I'm not sure that there's a need for each of the smaller lists that are broken up by type of institution. SMasonGarrison 00:45, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
could you create the pages and I will work on them? I'm worried they immediately might get nominated for deletion and would like your support. And we could probably create a tab for the type which would be helpful. Jjazz76 (talk) 01:51, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Smasongarrison - Just an update. Built out the smaller list and am halfway through the larger one. The smaller categories I agree there is not a need for. Hope to have it finished in a few hours.
Also just for clarification can you explain what you mean by "these categories need to be listified and contextualized"? Still learning to use categories most effectively! Jjazz76 (talk) 23:00, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Good question! Sure, so categories are used to help people navigate between articles that share defining features (as in something that you'd find in the opening paragraph that is something that sources regularly use to describe the page in question. For example, Harvard is regularly described as an Ivey League private university in Cambridge. Lists also help with navigation, but they don't really need to be limited to defining features. SMasonGarrison 00:31, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Smasongarrison got it. That defining feature piece is very helpful! Jjazz76 (talk) 03:02, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

edit
The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:07, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: There are no articles about counterterrorism in this category. This was nominated for speedy for not having items in it, which the creator responded to by adding individual terrorist attacks that have little or no relevance to counterterrorism. These categories are not synonymous and using it this way is duplicative. I also don't know what's going on with this formatting! PARAKANYAA (talk) 22:05, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: This category is no longer empty, as it now contains a sufficient number of related articles. It matches similar categories concerning other European countries. BasselHarfouch

The result of the discussion was: rename all as nominated. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:22, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per Spaceflight#Terminology and as shown by Collins Dictionary usage, space mission refers to a spaceflight intended to achieve an objective. Space tourism typically isn't intended to achieve an objective, scientific or maintenance one, so the proper word would be space tourism flight. Brandmeistertalk 20:15, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Suborbital space tourism missions to Category:Suborbital space tourism flights per above.

edit
The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:26, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: There's been some confusion generated here by the way these categories are named, which has caused some content to get misfiled in the wrong place. The festival-related articles have long been categorized at Category:Locarno Festival, even though the head article about the festival is at Locarno Film Festival -- and meanwhile, Category:Locarno Film Festival was recently created as a files category for the festival posters, even though categories of that type (see siblings in Category:Non-free images of film festival posters) are supposed to be named "[Name of Film Festival] posters", not just "[Name of Film Festival]", with the result that I just had to clear several articles out of the posters category. So the posters category should be renamed to have the word "posters" in it, and the articles category should be renamed to match the title of the head article. Bearcat (talk) 16:27, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support renaming: Both
Thank you for bring this under discussion @Bearcat:. I was unaware of the poster naming conventions when I created the files category. It would be wonderful to fix, especially since I am planning to make several more pages for the Locarno Film Festival and add posters. - SquawkGuard (talk) 21:14, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

edit
The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:2000 in motorsport and Category:Motorsport in the Czech Republic. Categorization of 2000 SportsRacing World Cup Brno can be discussed at Talk:2000 SportsRacing World Cup Brno. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:20, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Single-entry category for a country that doesn't have any other categories for motorsport in any other year. As always, navigation of the Wikipedia is not aided by obsessively subcatting everything down into the narrowest possible microcategories for just one thing -- this would be fine if there were several events to file here, but is not needed for just one, especially if it's the only year that even has a category at all. The result of the discussion was: delete. Categorization of Parkers Bistro can be discussed at Talk:Parkers Bistro. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:19, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Single-entry category for an individual street in a mid-sized city. As always, everything that exists does not automatically get categorized for the individual street it happens to be located on -- this can be done for highly meganotable streets (e.g. Broadway) that have a lot of notable things on them to so categorize, but is not automatically done for every street on the planet that has one thing on it with a Wikipedia article. Bearcat (talk) 15:52, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think upmerging is necessary, as the one article here is also in Category:Culture of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and thus doesn't need the duplicated parent category. Bearcat (talk) 17:23, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's not ideal, but in the absence of a category specifically for restaurants (which wouldn't be defensible with only one article in it), categorizing a restaurant as "Culture in City" is preferable to just "City". Bearcat (talk) 22:51, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

edit
The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:17, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Eponymous category without sufficient content to justify it. This is a new event being held for the first time in 2025, so the only thing that exists at this time is the head article about the 2025 event itself -- but as always, individual runnings of annual events do not automatically get their own year-specific categories just to contain themselves, and this is needed only if and when there are several spinoff articles besides the eponym itself. (For example, the Olympics get one of these because each individual sport at the Olympics has its own article covering the results in that specific sport, separately from the main overview article about the Olympics as a whole, meaning that each year's Olympics is covered by a couple dozen articles rather than just one.)
So no prejudice against recreation in the future if and when there are spinoff articles besides just 2025 European Running Championships itself, but this isn't needed just for that alone. No upmerging needed, either, as the article was left duplicate-categorized in all of the parent categories alongside this. Bearcat (talk) 15:30, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: I think this fails Wikipedia:Overcategorization, particularly WP:NONDEFINING and WP:TRIVIALCAT. Do we really want such categories that collect articles on subjects that are referenced in a particular song (even if the song was written by a notable person?
