The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:African-American members of Catholic religious communities. The Bushranger One ping only 03:15, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: rename, more clearly having a noun in place. This name was suggested very late in the previous discussion that was closed as no consensus, and I actually think it is a good name. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:41, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Smasongarrison, Natemup, Jc37, and Pichpich: pinging contributors to previous discussion. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:45, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what has changed since the last discussion. The current category name is standard Catholic terminology and the proposed category only makes it longer. natemup (talk) 00:10, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support. I think that this proposed rename is clearer, and makes it more obvious not non-practicing Catholics what the nature of the category is. SMasonGarrison 01:35, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. It not only makes the category name longer, but also makes it inaccurate, ignoring the distinction between religious orders and other religious communities in the Catholic Church. Several people under the category were not members of religious orders, but of societies of apostolic life, etc. "Consecrated religious" broadly covers everyone listed with standard terminology. natemup (talk) 13:31, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, "religious" in the current category name is a noun, as covered in the previous discussion. It's in the dictionary. natemup (talk) 13:36, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Natemup, ignoring the distinction between religious orders and other religious communities in the Catholic Church so would you accept Category:African-American members of Catholic religious communities, as at least better than the current proposed rename target? — Qwerfjkltalk 15:13, 17 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Better than the proposed target, yes, but not better than the current name. I don't think readers who are unfamiliar with the noun "consecrated religious" will be any more familiar with the similarly niche Catholic term "religious communities". So we would effectively just be making the name longer, which I'm pretty sure is frowned upon on Wikipedia. natemup (talk) 15:26, 17 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename somehow "religious" as a noun may well be a term of art here, but Wikipedia is meant to be understood by laypeople, not only experts in the given field, and when I saw this as an athiest (potential) closing admin with no prior experience in religious terminology it screams ungrammatical to me. There has to be a better way of titling this that allows people to understand what should be included. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:18, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not aware of any stipulation that anything on Wikipedia needs to be immediately comprehensible to laypeople. natemup (talk) 15:22, 17 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Rename to Category:African-American members of Catholic religious communities per my comment above, as more easily understandable. Whilst the exact technical meaning might not be immediately understood, it's more comprehensible than the status quo. — Qwerfjkltalk 15:31, 17 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: keep. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 15:15, 17 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: delete per WP:OPINIONCAT, with very few exceptions these weren't activists in the Zionist movement which was largely a Jewish phenomenon. They were merely supporters of it. Any articles about activists should be moved to Category:Zionist activists. Marcocapelle (talk) 15:01, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Slightly lean oppose. This seems like a notable intersection for the very reason that they aren't Jewish. If not kept, I think that they should be merged to their respective parent categories (Category:South African Christians) etc. SMasonGarrison 01:38, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. Christian Zionism is a well-established distinct ideology that by definition is distinguished from Jewish/secular Zionism, that's exactly why it matters. Dewuser9 (talk) 12:08, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. As Dewuser9 has stated above, this is an important distinction due to the nature of Zionism being a movement related to Judaism while the pages in these categories are about Christians who support Zionism. User01938 (talk) 02:44, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose – for the reasons given by both Dewuser9 and User01938 Lf8u2 (talk) 03:54, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Christian Zionists are people/activists who actively support Israel with the motive of bringing about the end times and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. If that isn't a defining characteristic then I don't know what is. (As your policy states: "Please note, however, the distinction between holding an opinion and being an activist, as the latter may be a defining characteristic (see Category:Activists).") Other forms of activists who have related established categories are mainstream Zionists, as well as other categories of Christian political activists such as Christian nationalists, Christian socialists, Christian fascists and Christian anarchists. Christian Zionists are another such category. Dewuser9 (talk) 02:03, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: This is an overly specific category - most of the articles are located in the English subcategory with very few in the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish subcategories. This category has led to a lot of fictional characters being allocated the wrong category and has made the process harder, so I am proposing a merge (if someone could please add Category:Scottish male characters in soap operas, Category:Northern Irish male characters in soap operas and Category:Welsh male characters in soap operas to this discussion I would be extremely grateful). Nominator's rationale: None of the pages in this category have that they are of "Indian descent" anywhere on the page. The category was most likely added just because of their surname "Hindi" which means Indian in Arabic. Additionally the category only had two people: Amin al-Hindi and Ayman Al-Hindi. Thepharoah17 (talk) 02:06, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Question: Is everyone in the category already categorized in other Palestinian categories? SMasonGarrison 02:21, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ya, all the applicable ones Thepharoah17 (talk) 02:45, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Delete - I am somehow inclined to believe it was a category created just because their surnames are in some way related to Hindu/Hindi (in the Indian context) Lf8u2 (talk) 03:49, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Wp:C1, Unpopulated categories
The only article in this category is Will Muir which makes no mention of the school. (After the category was created, another editor guessed Stokesley School is intended and added Category:People educated by school in North Yorkshire as a parent category, but I'm not sure if that was the intended school.) Taking to full CFD since it's not technically empty. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:02, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete * Pppery * it has begun... 01:21, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:NONDEFINING and WP:OCAWARD
The Boston Music Awards are an annual award celebrating artists from the Boston metro, typically who are already becoming national acts. This musicians in this category are a mix of those that mention the award in passing (like Speedy Ortiz and Amazing Crowns) and those that don't mention it at all (Dropkick Murphys, Noah Kahan). The main article could use some TLC and expanding it seems like a better approach to covering the topic than this category. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:02, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
