Category:Films set in prison

Propose merging Category:Films set in prison to Category:Prison films

My reasoning: I think there's too much overlap and redundancy between these 2 categories. Similarly to Category:Films about police officers (which I successfully nominated for merging into Category:Police films), most of the relevant subcategories are tilted "X prison films" like a film genre. It's clear what a "prison film" is; a movie about prison set in a prison. AHI-3000 (talk) 06:26, 20 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Post-merge, it would be a good idea to diffuse all articles within the category to more appropriate subcategories, and purge anything which isn't really focused on prison life. • Oppose They don't necessarily overlap - Prison film is a specific genre, while a film that is set in a prison is not necessarily a prison film, as evidenced by the above example of 7 Days in Hell, a sports film set in prison. Prison film is a subset of films set in prison though, which is how it should be. There was also minimal participation for the police film one.
