TimedText:Dear Future Husband.ogg.en.srt (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Am bringing this for deletion as there are editors who question whether a timed text page such as this is acceptable. This timed text version of song lyrics is copyrighted material as well as the audio clip attached to it, however, the clip is being used with a fair use rationale. It seems to me that it is impermissible to create a timed text of copyrighted material. Other texts such as this this exist within Wikipedia, however, because timed text is relatively unexplored here, specific policy doesn't seem to exist on it. Discussion here could help establish consensus, but, I believe caution should be used due to copyright concerns and deletion should occur first. Am pinging Moonriddengirl because of her extensive experience with copyrighted content and policy. -- WV 21:33, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: Although the rationale for the ogg file mentions both the lyrics and the sound of the song, the text of the article conveys the lyrics quite well; so that added non-free content is not needed for lyrics. The timed text does not convey the sound of the song. From the point of view of accessibility, the sound of the song could be conveyed as well as possible to non-hearing users with descriptive free text. —teb728 t c 23:23, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
