Dear Mr/Mrs,

My name is [nome - cognome] and I cooperate with Wikipedia (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pagina_principale), an online free multilingual encyclopedia which is edited by volunteers and is sustained by Wikimedia Foundation, a non-profit organization. Wikipedia edits non-biased articles on all branches of knowledge.

The text material to be loaded on Wikipedia servers must be released under the "Creative Commons-Attribution-ShareAlike" (CC-BY-SA, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/) and optionally (but recommenderd) with the addition of "GNU Free Documentation License" (GFDL, https://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html). These licences both protect the author’s rights and allow the free distribution, print and modification of the contents.

I am now asking for your permission to publish some pictures in Wikipedia pages.

Pictures may be licensed in several ways, which you can read at https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyright_immagini (in Italian). As you can see, we do thank particularly those who license pictures for the "Public ___domain", under some "Creative Commons" licenses or in "GDFL". However, it also possible to license pictures maintaining the "Copyrighted" specification: for example, Panini Comics chooe this kind of license, as you can see at https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immagine:Copertina_Uomo_Ragno_MI_430.png. Some Wikipedia volunteers are now building a comics section (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Progetto_Fumetti) and would like to write articles on comic magazines and characters you publish or have created.

Therefore, we are asking for your permission to use pictures of your characters or of your covers to embellish the articles, as in the quoted example.

We will always credit the author and source (web site or volunteer’s scanning) of the picture.
