Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RMTM)
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page. Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.

edit- Network Ten Pty Limited → Paramount Australia & New Zealand (currently a redirect back to Network Ten Pty Limited) (move · discuss) – Per WP:NCCORP, WP:COMMONNAME, Paramount Australia & New Zealand is the trading name, Network Ten Pty Limited is the name of the legal entity Hemeotyre (talk) 01:20, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- This may be the legal name of the company, but is not the common name - usage in Australia is still strongly weighted towards referring to Network 10 (see a google news search of the 2 terms).Newystats (talk) 05:48, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- Count Kasimir Felix Badeni → Kazimierz Badeni (currently a redirect back to Count Kasimir Felix Badeni) (move · discuss) – Aristocratic title in the name is not needed, also we should use Polish version of the name Marcelus (talk) 13:26, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Marcelus I oppose this. I agree with removing the title, but why would we use the Polish form of his name when most English publications use the German one? Theknightwho (talk) 14:12, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Theknightwho 44 results in Scholar for "Kasimir Felix Badeni", 105 results for "Kazimierz Badeni". Also Kazimierz Badeni was his native name. See similar case of Alfred Józef Potocki. Marcelus (talk) 14:50, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Marcelus I'm not sure why you missed out the 203 results for Kasimir Badeni. Theknightwho (talk) 14:55, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Theknightwho Because it's between Kasimir Felix Badeni or Kazimierz Badeni, also Kasimir Badeni actually gives 76 results (you didn't limit it to English only texts). Marcelus (talk) 22:53, 1 September 2025 (UTC)

- Excimer laser → Exciplex laser (currently a redirect back to Excimer laser) (move · discuss) – More general name should be the default, while more restrict case of excimers can be dealt with in the text/redirection Kemik0297 (talk) 19:56, 30 August 2025
- This sounds like a fine argument to put forth in a discussion, but not necessarily persuasive. I strongly suspect that many more people are familiar with "Excimer laser" than "Exciplex laser". — BarrelProof (talk) 18:38, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- Alei ridge (currently a redirect to Manuʻa Islands) → Alei Ridge (move · discuss) – both words are capitalised in the sources cited, and a quick search online indicates that this is the WP:COMMONNAME capitalisation. 2A02:C7C:4D0A:A500:841D:5BC7:3EEA:9C4D (talk) 17:21, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- Can you provide a few references to support this? The word Alei does not show up on the page, nor in the first few references checked. TiggerJay (talk) 06:08, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Tiggerjay: it was redirected last night, with a reasonable rationale. I do have a few RS on the ridge's endemic fauna, but I'll add them to the target article Manuʻa Islands, thanks. 2A02:C7C:4D0A:A500:841D:5BC7:3EEA:9C4D (talk) 17:03, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, I see now, it was redirected after you placed this move request. I would suggest either adding it to the Manu article, or reworking Alei Ridge in draft space. TiggerJay (talk) 17:41, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

- Cyclone Lola (2023) → Cyclone Lola (currently a redirect back to Cyclone Lola (2023)) (move · discuss) – The only other cyclone named "Lola" redirects to the 2004-05 cyclone season. There is no other destructive "Cyclone Lola" yet that can challenge this storm's prominence, nor are there other separate pages that are also named "Cyclone Lola". Bugnawfang 13:59, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Bugnawfang Given that the current redirect for Cyclone Lola has undergone multiple different redirect targets, this is not an uncontroversial request, please start a full discussion and inform relevant pages that might be affected by this proposed move. TiggerJay (talk) 21:00, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- Australian Survivor season 5 → Australian Survivor: Champions V Contenders (2018) (move · discuss) – The seasons was named Champions V Contenders, which aired on 2018. The following season was with the same theme, which aired in 2019. SeosiWrestling (talk) 20:23, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
- This seems unnecessarily verbose. As with books, we don't generally use a subtitle unless disambiguation is needed or perhaps if there is evidence that the longer title is more often used as the common name. older ≠ wiser 18:28, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- Australian Survivor season 6 → Australian Survivor: Champions V Contenders (2019) (move · discuss) – The seasons was named Champions V Contenders, which aired on 2019, simillair to the previous year. SeosiWrestling (talk) 20:23, 30 August 2025 (UTC)

- German battleship Bismarck → Bismarck (battleship) (currently a redirect back to German battleship Bismarck) (move · discuss) – per WP:CONSISTENT, Make name of article consistent with standard disambiguation. OmegaAOLTalk 21:58, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. The current title is correct per WP:NCSHIP. In fact, it is specifically name-checked in the naming convention. 162 etc. (talk) 16:52, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
Administrator needed
edit- Draft:Tarleton Helmet → Tarleton helmet (currently a redirect instead to Banastre Tarleton#Tarleton helmet) (move · discuss) – Requesting an administrator look-over Draft:Tarleton Helmet, and possibly delete the re-direct located at Tarleton helmet. I've had a fully-protected edit request open for almost a month, now, and it has gone unanswered. As the draft has been sitting in-review for a long while, I'm reaching-out here to request further assistance. I feel the draft is ready for mainspace. Thanks!
