Ground control

The film is not listed at List of films based on actual events, but that list is probably rather incomplete. The incident is not mentioned in the section Rostov-on-Don Airport § Incidents and accidents and also not on the Russian Wikipedia. If there is no English-language source describing it, it is somewhat unlikely to have been a source of inspiration for the flick. By 1998 it had become common to advertise movies as "based on a true story".
