Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Cuba
![]() | Points of interest related to Cuba on Wikipedia: Outline – History – Portal – Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – Cleanup – Stubs – Assessment |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Cuba. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Cuba|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Cuba. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Caribbean.

Subject lacks the required WP:SIGCOV needed to meet the WP:SPORTCRIT and WP:GNG. PROD was contested but zero sources showing notability have been added. Let'srun (talk) 01:18, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Sportspeople, Women, Cycling, and Cuba. Let'srun (talk) 01:18, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect to 2010 Pan American Cycling Championships#Track – Where she won a bronze medal. Svartner (talk) 10:35, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- Keep She actually won a silver medal at the 2010 Pan American Cycling Championships#Track not bronze. That medal at a significant competition, combined with these sources [1], [2], [3], [4], cumulatively mean she passes GNG in my opinion. Anxioustoavoid (talk) 11:53, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- The first three sources there lack significant coverage. The last source there is from when she was a minor and as a local publication fails WP:YOUNGATH. Let'srun (talk) 11:58, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- WP:YOUNGATH is part of WP:NSPORT not WP:GNG. If GNG is passed, then SNG can be ignored. Ike Lek (talk) 19:00, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Actually, it is a more stringent criteria than the WP:GNG, similarly to how WP:NCORP operates. As such, it can't be ignored in this case. Let'srun (talk) 19:13, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- I don't see where it says that. I think WP:YOUNGATH is a valid argument against meeting WP:SPORTSCRIT claims that other comments are making, but not against this one which claims WP:GNG. Ike Lek (talk) 19:35, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- But your argument isn't GNG either, since none of these have SIGCOV. JoelleJay (talk) 22:33, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- It's not my argument. I was just commenting on WP:YOUNGATH. I don't have a stance on notability here as of yet. Ike Lek (talk) 23:13, 19 August 2025 (UTC)

- Keep: she meets WP:NCYCLING (point 3 and 5). She won the World Cup Cali at the 2008–09 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics in the team pursuit. 178.197.203.101 (talk) 20:39, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- WP:SPORTSCRIT still requires that at least one piece of WP:SIGCOV be cited in the article, even if the subject meets a SNG. Can you cite any SIGCOV? Let'srun (talk) 21:30, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- Keep Per reasonings above. Seacactus 13 (talk) 15:42, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Seacactus 13, which of the sources offer IRS SIGCOV that does not fail YOUNGATH? To meet GNG we need multiple such sources, and to meet SPORTCRIT one of those must be cited in the article. JoelleJay (talk) 19:58, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect. All the sources mentioned above are purely routine primary event recaps with no secondary coverage; the last also fails YOUNGATH, and is entirely just repeating her words from an interview, apart from two partial sentences of primary reporting:
The 16-year-old, who was the top female cyclist at the continental competition, stated that...
andThe Antillean native of this capital dedicated her titles to her mother, ...
. Nowhere close to SIGCOV. JoelleJay (talk) 20:08, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

- Keep meeting multiple times WP:NCYCLING with winning the track cycling World Cup and multiple national time trial champion and won a stage of the Tour de Prince Edward Island . And nice to mention she is top-8 of the World (7th at World Championships). 95.98.65.177 (talk) 20:52, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- NCYCLING is irrelevant if SPORTCRIT is not met. JoelleJay (talk) 22:34, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
