Lynch mob model

edit

I say that the vfd process is more akin to lynch mob than a debate or a constitutional law process:

  • The goal is to preserve global harmony at any cost
  • The target is aniallated
  • It is silly to call it a debate, it is merely a vote: a consesus is formed with little pro/con discussion
  • Whomever shows up gets a vote (there is no scoping of the polling pool)
  • Attacks on the author (Like JPotter's) (as opposed to discussion of the article) go unchecked
  • Discussion after the fact gets shoved to a backwater
  • No true negotions, mentoring, or remedial actions are possible
  • It happens quickly and be started by a single user

Note also that unlike lynch mob, where the family is usually allowed cut down and bury the victim, you guys prefer to leave him hanging there forever as a warning to others. An effective innovation: I admire your ingenuity to improve upon the orignal process. 165.247.212.93 01:53, 20 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
