Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Volatility Guard
This is a good article to have on wiki. Volatility Guards are a fact and they are STILL USED and APPLIED. Many people are still unaware of the mechanism. There is a lot of work around Volatility Guards now. On 01 December 2014, Nasdaq Nordic and Nasdaq Baltic introduce auction safeguards to be applied to those shares and ETFs/ Fund Units on below markets, including respective First North markets, which also have volatility guards during continuous trading.
If we have articles related to the concept of "Volatility" in Wikipedia, It is very natural to have an article explaining the concept of Volatility Guard.
General public should be made aware of this. Next time we will have a significant volatility spike in one of these markets, the volatility guards will be triggered leaving a lot of investors completely clueless.
Here is how it is currently used in the safeguards in the NASDAQ OMX Nordic:

" The dynamic volatility guards* used in continuous trading are the basis for the percentages used as safeguards in the opening and closing auctions:
in the opening auction the safeguards are two (2) times the dynamic volatility guards and in the closing auction the safeguards are the same as dynamic volatility guards.
- Dynamic volatility guards are set on order book level and disseminated as reference data via the Genium Consolidated Feed and Nordic Workstation.
See the percentages normally used as trading safeguards in the opening and closing auction in the table below. NASDAQ OMX Nordic holds the right to apply deviating percentages on individual order book."
I will be very happy to add more technical explanations on how this works.
Reason for AfD
editHello, I proposed the AfD for this article.
As of now, it still fails under WP:NOTABLE. The only link is to a press release of Nasdaq OMX, which is not enough to establish notability - all it proves is what the company claimed at some point in time, see WP:PS. If you have a reliable secondary source, as for instance an article in specialized press, please provide it. Notice that "people are unaware of it" is not a reason to put an article on wiki (on the contrary, it might indicate a lack of notability).
There is also a serious problem of WP:ADVERTISING. After reading the article as it currently stands, one only has a vague understanding of what VG are, but one knows perfectly well that Volguard is offering such services, that this company has a "philosophy" and takes it "one step further", etc. In itself, this is reason for a rewriting, not for a deletion; but if there is only one company (or two) in the world offering such services and there is no reliable source discussing them, it does not belong to WP.
In a nutshell: please solve the notability problem by providing link to a secondary source. Tigraan (talk) 12:32, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
