Fix template parameters. Note that some articles have the parameter class in the template {{WPDATABASE|class=|importance=}} listed as rating= instead of class=. I have fixed several but there may be others. There needs to be a distinction between databases and database software. I don’t think a particular database or use of a database is germane to this project. DrKC MD (talk) 16:57, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

To complicate this a little, see Astrophysics_Data_System#Software_and_hardware, which is about a specialized design for a particular database. User script to detect unreliable sources

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

• John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

• John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14.

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

• Deletion of United States government data

The United States government recently discontinued providing access to certain databases. One consequence of this is increased media coverage on data collections now that they are gone.

If anyone wants to collab in developing Wikipedia article coverage of a dataset, then suggest one here. Also, I appreciate any reaction to the article I just made about the content deletion. Bluerasberry (talk) 15:46, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
