Hello all fellow Wikipedians. I have been on here since early in 2006, but have become quite active on here beginning in the autumn. I hope to continue making contributions for the foreseeable future.

Bio

I was born and grew up in the State of New Hampshire in the USA. I graduated from Spaulding High School in 1989 and went to Husson College in Bangor, Maine briefly before going to Plymouth State College (now Plymouth State University) where I received a BA in political science in 1994. As a collegian, I played soccer and ran track (the 5000m was my event of choice.) I was also on two national finals World Geography Bowl teams. I was also a student senator for one year.

I then proceeded to go to graduate school at the University of Georgia where I studied Political Science and Social Science Education. While there, I was able to break through and actually be on two national champion World Geography Bowl teams.

I lived and taught in China from 1997 to 1999, first living in Ji'nan, Shandong, where I taught at Shandong Teachers' University, then in Shanghai, where I taught at private language institutes.

I returned to Georgia in the autumn of 1999 to finish coursework needed to receive my teaching certification. I was the Republican nominee for the District 4 Athens-Clarke County commission race in 2000. I also taught briefly at the American Language Program of the University of Georgia in the spring and summer of 2001. I accepted a teaching job at Chattahoochee High School for the 2001-2002 school year. I got married on May 4, 2002 and decided to accompany my wife to her home country of Taiwan three months after we got married.

I currently live in Taichung City. I have two children and happily teach many different age groups in the city. I also maintain accounts on Wikicommons and Chinese Wikipedia by the same name.

Currently Dispute Accuracy

My dispute policy is this. If I dispute content, I take the following steps.
1. I place a dispute tag on the article, leave a description of my disputes, and leave notes on the talk pages of the original author(s) of the page of the dispute.
2. If there is a response, resolve the dispute through dialoge.
3. If there is no response within one week, I unilaterally make the changes.

Wikipedia Honors

I don't come here seeking honors. I have received enough honors and recognition for endeavors I have done previously in the real world. Still, it is nice to see that people recognize the contributions I make to Wikipedia.

  • I declined the nomination because I don't believe I am ready yet, but I do appreciate it.
  • The Taichung City article was nominated for featured article status. While I spoke out against it - because I regard it as a work in progress - it is my goal to get that page and the associated pages up to snuff for serious consideration.

  • Thank you Nlu. I really enjoy working on the Chinese history pages. There is a lot to do there, and if I can make even a small contribution, I am very happy to do so.

Books Currently Reading

  • "Taking Back America" edited by Katrina Vanden Heuvel and Robert L. Borosage of The Nation. I am studying what the Left plans to do to America to be better able to counter them on discussion boards.
  • "Imperial China: 900-1800" by F.W. Mote. I love Chinese history and will use information from here to support WikiProject China.
  • 台灣歷史 (Taiwan History) - I can't remember the name of the author off-hand. I am using this to both practice reading Chinese and learn more about Taiwanese history at the same time.
  • "Universal Father: A Life of Pope John Paul II" by Garry O'Connor. This is a comprehensive biography of the late Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, whom I confidently believe is up in Heaven right now interceding for the downtrodden people of the world.
  • "Dune: House Harkonnen" by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. This is the second in a prequel trilogy to the original "Dune" series.
