I have just modified one external link on Part-time contract. Please take a moment to review my edit. If you have any questions, or need the bot to ignore the links, or the page altogether, please visit this simple FaQ for additional information. I made the following changes:

The request to rename this article to Part-time job has been carried out. |
Part-time contract → Part-time job – Per WP:COMMONNAME. Google Ngrams shows that "part-time job" is far more popular a phrase. Perhaps part-time contract can redirect to employment contract instead. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 16:49, 1 December 2019 (UTC) —Relisting. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:40, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom, pending any possible "US vs UK" difference I'm not privy to or finding at the moment. Steel1943 (talk) 15:10, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
- Comment Redirecting both to part-time work would be more appropriate, since a job and a contract are a subset of the broader phenomenon of work. FWIW (and it's not everything), but Ngram search is in accord. --Goldsztajn (talk) 08:06, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support. Hyperbolick (talk) 21:01, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
- Comment I prefer part-time work per above and consistency with e.g. Temporary work. Neodop (talk) 01:16, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support as proposed - the article is about the job Red Slash 00:01, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support: Part-time job redirects here, and not all part-time jobs involve employment contracts. Per Red Slash, the article is about the job, not the contract. Part-time work and Part-time employment might also be acceptable. —BarrelProof (talk) 20:15, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom Less Unless (talk) 22:11, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom and BarrelProof. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:09, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Arbeit
editIn Japan and South Korea, a form of part-time job is called "Arbeit", which indeed comes from the German word for 'work' or 'labour'. The term is considered to be a form of 'broken English', so, when using 'correct English', it is often recommended to replace it with "part-time job".
However, the Japanese- and Korean-language editions of Wikipedia each have a separate article about "Arbeit", aside from what is linked to the English Wikipedia's "Part-time job" article. These "Arbeit" articles currently do not have a corresponding article on the English Wikipedia, and when one is eventually created, I hope it will be titled "Arbeit in Japan and South Korea".
In a somewhat related matter, the English Wikipedia does have an article titled "Part-time jobs in South Korea", which does not have a corresponding article in the other editions of Wikipedia, even in Korean.
So, what can be done?
- Create the "Arbeit in Japan and South Korea" as a new, separate article, while maintaining the "Part-time jobs in South Korea" article to give us detailed situations in South Korea; or,
- Retool the "Part-time jobs in South Korea" article to add an overview of "Arbeit" in Japan as well, and rename it to "Arbeit in Japan and South Korea".
I welcome your thoughts on this matter. Please feel free to leave a comment. 2001:2D8:2016:F936:B954:44E3:1480:6029 (talk) 04:08, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
External links
edit- Some things just grow during incremental edits and sometimes get out of hand. The "External links" section, one of the optional appendices, was expanded to 7 entries, organized into four subsections. Three seems to be an acceptable number, and of course, everyone has their favorite to try to add for a fourth. Consensus needs to determine this. A tag indicates concerns.
- However, none is needed for article promotion.
- Some links may be included in WP:ELNO, or What Wikipedia is not (policy) such as WP:NOTREPOSITORY or WP:NOTGUIDE.
- WP:ELDEAD may apply.
- In some cases ELCITE applies:
Do not use {{cite web}} or other citation templates in the External links section. Citation templates are permitted in the Further reading section
. Others, listed below: - ELpoints #3) states:
Links in the "External links" section should be kept to a minimum. A lack of external links or a small number of external links is not a reason to add external links.
- LINKFARM states:
There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to the external links section of an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia. On articles about topics with many fansites, for example, including a link to one major fansite may be appropriate.
- ELMIN:
Minimize the number of links
.
- The External links guideline This page in a nutshell:
External links in an article can be helpful to the reader, but they should be kept minimal, meritable, and directly relevant to the article. With rare exceptions, external links should not be used in the body of an article.
- Second paragraph,
acceptable external links include those that contain further research that is accurate and on-topic, information that could not be added to the article for reasons such as copyright or amount of detail, or other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article for reasons unrelated to its accuracy.
- Please also note:
- WP:ELBURDEN:
Disputed links should be excluded by default unless and until there is a consensus to include them
. Please do not add back more links without consensus. Simple solution to facilitate career maintenance tag. Move links here for discussion.
