Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Photography
![]() | Points of interest related to Photography on Wikipedia: History – Portal – Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – Cleanup – Stubs – Assessment – Style |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Photography. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Photography|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Photography. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Visual arts.

Much much too broad. There are a ton of these products made for 20+ years and it can't be anywhere near completeness, and inclusion of any is likely biased (I only see a few of the biggest brands here). I've made a similar case about Comparison of smartphones. Prebenn (talk) 13:07, 25 August 2025 (UTC)

Notability not established through reliable, independent sources. Two sources are from a camera company's website; one is an interview with her; one is her own website; one is her biography for a gallery opening. No true claim to notability expressed - the "Heroine" award is not the "first" winner - she's one of 8 or so to win it in the 3rd year the award was given by the camera company. - Hello, I am a new user. The individuals I wrote about are well-known, but I may not have provided sufficient sources. I kindly ask professional editors to help improve this text. I also request the Wikipedia team not to delete this page and to assist in enhancing it. I would like to express my gratitude to CountryANDWestern for helping with sourcing and preventing the deletion of this article. 1374maafba (talk) 16:44, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

- @1374maafba: After reading this essay, could you choose three sources that you think best demonstrate her notability? Thanks. Kovcszaln6 (talk) 07:15, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for taking the time to review this article. After going through the available sources, here are three that I believe best demonstrate her notability, with a short explanation for each:
- BBC Culture – “Real-life faces from modern art” (2013) https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20130711-real-life-faces-from-modern-art Published by one of the most internationally recognized media outlets, this article presents her work alongside other notable contemporary artists, which demonstrates her relevance in the global art scene.
- The Guardian – “Photography Gallery” (2014) https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/gallery/2014/may/18/photography The Guardian is a highly reputable newspaper. Featuring her artwork in its Art & Design section provides strong evidence of significant, independent coverage from a mainstream source.
- ArtReview – “Summer 2014 Review: Flora Borsi” https://artreview.com/summer-2014-review-flora-borsi/ ArtReview is a respected, specialized art magazine. Its dedicated review of her work goes beyond a passing mention and offers critical evaluation, further supporting her recognition in the contemporary art world.
- Together, these three sources represent independent, reliable, and in-depth coverage, strongly supporting the subject’s notability.
- I did my best to gather reliable sources in line with Wikipedia’s requirements. Thank you again for taking the time to review this article. If you have any suggestions for improvements or revisions, I would be very grateful for your guidance. 1374maafba (talk) 14:47, 19 August 2025 (UTC)

- Comment - User:1374maafba has been Canvassing for support on 11 user pages. - Arjayay (talk) 19:52, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I have asked other editors to help me improve the articles I edit. I would appreciate it if you would not constantly delete my messages. Respect for each other is important in the writing space on Wikipedia. Again, I would like to ask the editors and experienced people here to help me review the articles I write so that I can write better articles. Deleting articles without even reviewing and guiding the author is a thoughtless act. I would appreciate it if my articles were reviewed and then the points needed to correct them were announced. 1374maafba (talk) 20:05, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- I don't believe anyone has been "constantly delet[ing] [your] messages"; I don't see any of your comments removed from anyone's pages. On the other hand, you have removed Arjayay's comments here and at another AFD, and removed conversation from Arjayay's talk page. CountryANDWestern (talk) 20:09, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- It was your page that I asked for help from and asked for a reason why you were deleting my page, but you deleted my message. 1374maafba (talk) 20:20, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- I did no such thing. On Simple English Wikipedia you posted 6 different messages calling me "malicious" and calling for the community to "remove [me] from the platform" which an administrator removed as a personal attack. You also posted a similar message on the other AFD involving your articles earlier that you removed yourself later. But, let's not get too caught up in discussing these things here and we'll focus instead on the article. CountryANDWestern (talk) 20:26, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- It's just that Arjayay also uses words like "Canvassing" under all my articles. I'm a new editor. Is it that hard to guide me? I'd appreciate it if you'd show me some respect. 1374maafba (talk) 20:41, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- I thank you again for your guidance and my request is to help me in writing articles. I have written 28 sources for this article and also added sources in the text. I hope that experienced editors will guide me and help me in improving the articles. 1374maafba (talk) 20:45, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

- Anyway, I explained on my page that, as a new editor and based on my observations, I thought it was appropriate to delete. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and would greatly appreciate your understanding. I am seeking guidance as someone who has just started contributing to Wikipedia and is eager to learn.
- I kindly request that experienced editors review the articles I have worked on and provide guidance for improving them. My goal is to be a constructive contributor on Wikipedia, particularly by creating valuable content about photographers and artists. As you may notice, all my edits and articles so far have been in the fields of art and photography, where I have over 10 years of experience, and I hope to share this expertise to benefit the Wikipedia community.

- Comment another WP:WALLOFTEXT explaining abusing WP policies by newbie status. Canvassing is not permitted. LLMs are not permitted. --WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 15:37, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Keep. The BBC and CBSNews sources that 1374maafba added to the article yesterday suffice to establish notability. As for the likely LLM generated walls of text in the AFD discussion, that's not great, but not a reason for deletion of the article. 13 is a new user, they'll get there eventually. We were all new users once. I personally didn't have LLMs available to me when I was a new user, but, you know, there but for the grace of God.... --GRuban (talk) 15:43, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- I think it unfair to ask fellow editors to AGF of a SPA machine that has gamed the system, and published two non-notable articles on their 20th and 21st edits. We have enough volunteer work to do. This is not a net gain to the project.--WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 18:28, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- 13: advice, listing 28 sources in the AFD is better than nothing, but actually using the best ones from there in the article is better. Ideally the way you'd have written that article was by starting from that list of sources, not by waiting for the AFD. The best ones means respected news sources, that go in depth, and not written by the article subject. Similarly, improving the article is better than writing a lot in the AFD. For the AFD, short is good. Actually for the article short and simple would be good too, phrases like "exploring themes of identity and the complexities of the human experience" and "utilizing metaphor and visual storytelling to convey deep emotional narrative" don't really mean very much. --GRuban (talk) GRuban (talk) 15:53, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
