Instructions

SUL finalization

If you are requesting a merge of a global account with one or more unconnected local accounts as part of finalizing your single unified login (SUL) username, please specify which wikis and accounts you want to merge into your global account. These accounts were typically named "account name~wikiname". Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account.

How to add an entry here

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname ===
{{SRUC
|status = <!--don't change this line-->
|___domain = global
|Oldname =
|Newname =
|reason = (your remarks here)
--~~~~
}}

Example

For global rename requests:

=== Example ===
{{SRUC
|status     = <!--don't change this line-->
|___domain     = global
|Oldname    = Example
|Newname    = Foo
|reason     = your remarks here
--~~~~
}}

Making a request for your own account

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available.

You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requests

Account renames are not private, once renamed many links from the old username to the new username will be permanently made. The reason submitted on the rename form (Special:GlobalRenameRequest) is private, and only visible by the renamers. Additional information that needs to be made in private may be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Requests

Please add new requests at the end of the page. Sections should be titled your username@project name or your username@multiple projects please.

Done Wikidata. Rename on loginwiki, tewiki, simplewiki, enwikisource and eswiki probably not necessary, as the account has no edits there. Vogone (talk) 21:15, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Usurp done on eswiki as a local 'crat. Released the accounts on tenwiki (despite the wiki being locked) and renamed and usurped on hiwiki. Please access d:Special:MergeAccount and hi:Special:MergeAccount to unify your SUL account. Usurps and eventual renames on te.wiki, en.wikisource, simple.wiki and zh.wiki should currently be handled by local bureaucrats. Renaming on meta & loginwiki is not necessary, renaming on ur.wiki should also be handled by local bureaucrats. Savhñ 21:32, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
re: meta: it's possible the user wishes to retain their meta registration date, which is why I included it. –xeno 11:38, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
When someone gets renamed globally and has 0 edits on Meta with the old name, such a rename is useless and not done by meta bureaucrats. --MF-W 14:39, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FuzzyDice@global

Done, because of error with original rename being too similar to Fuzzydice. Please ensure that your userpage lists the change. Ajraddatz (talk) 23:42, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Did AntiSpoof prevent creations of new accounts because "Fuzzydice" exists? Otherwise, this was a useless rename because Fuzzydice has one edit from 2006 only. --MF-W 14:41, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not that I know of, as the global rename got all the attached accounts. Between this issue, the relation to FuzzyBot and the repeat requests by the user for a rename I still think that this was the best solution, though you are free to disagree. 1. I assume you want a global rename (i.e. for all of your accounts).
    Yes. FilipMyslowski (talk) 17:13, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Filipbb already exists on Commons. Does that account belong to you? Otherwise, please inform him first that you want to take over his name. --MF-W 14:44, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    Done - [1]. FilipMyslowski (talk) 17:13, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Satsuma@global

I've engaged a friend to became a new member of Wikimedia movement and he has a local account in :ca. Even if he tried to make it global (and I helped him), We found out that his name, (at least in Commons is not in use) is taken de.wictionary and maybe other projects. He has posted This in his local discussion page to assure he wants to make the rename. Is it possible?

I advise your friend to choose a different name and request a global rename. Ruslik (talk) 17:12, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is ok? I believe he only has activated the :ca account, so this should be rename :ca's Satsuma into "TaronjaSatsuma" and then make the account global.--Coentor (talk) 18:04, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Coentor: Could you please let your friend confirm he wants the name "TaronjaSatsuma"? After that happened, we could proceed with this request. Vogone (talk) 19:51, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If I understand it correctly, Coentor/Ruslik, he'd simply like to have his account renamed to "TaronjaSatsuma" (No SUL, no local accounts, so should be okay). We can either rename globally, or a ca.wikipedia 'crat could do so locally. Savhñ 19:52, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I Will. Basically, Mr. Satsuma/TaronjaSatsuma wants a global account with his nick, but he registered locally. If "Satsuma" is taken in other wikis, then he wants to change his name in order to get a global one.--Coentor (talk) 20:00, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, usurping would be an option, though globally renaming is currently an easier process. However, with SUL finalisation approaching, he will - as owner of the SUL account - become the unique owner of the nick Satsuma. It depends on whether he wishes to wait a while, go through the usurpation process or be renamed globally. Savhñ 20:05, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
New diff for the new username. As a local 'crat it is fine to me to do it locally or globally, but I think it is better to complete this request here. --Vriullop (talk) 09:29, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Considering that, I have handled this request. Satsuma has been globally renamed to TaronjaSatsuma. Savhñ 09:47, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Vicenç for the diff.--Coentor (talk) 10:08, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

JackElliot is taken on enwiki. Does that account belong to you? Vogone (talk) 11:18, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bécarre@multiple projects

Note: I am afraid I should not have created today the account Bécarre on Meta Wiki (I had no account on Meta Wiki yet, I created it to make this request), as I can see this operation created already void local accounts on all projects. Please check if you can nevertheless cope with this and finally rename my existing accounts to Bécarre (global Bécarre account, as existing today, can be thrown away or renamed to a dustbin account, so that my local accounts may be renamed). Many thanks ! --Bécarre (talk) 12:17, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  Done.
Bécarre@global -> Bécarre (SUL request)@global
The rest as requested.
Please log in as Bécarre and visit Special:Mergeaccount on one of the 4 wikis above now. --MF-W 17:20, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done, many thanks! --88.182.163.153 21:23, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
