Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Texas

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Texas. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Texas|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Texas. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to US.

I have carried out WP:BEFORE for this article about a middle school / junior high school, and cannot find significant coverage in reliable secondary sources to add. The existing three references are to the school's website, to the school's listing at Niche, and to the website of the school district. I do not think this school meets WP:GNG or WP:NSCHOOL. I had redirected the article to Katy, Texas#Middle schools, but that has been reverted by another editor. Tacyarg (talk) 20:58, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Appears to have had a very short career and I couldn't find good sources to support notability. Appears to fail WP:GNG. Raskuly (talk) 04:20, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fails NCORP, promotional. No reliable independent coverage - listings, puffery portfolio texts, nothing more. Jazzbanditto (talk) 11:10, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Point 4 of WP:EVENTCRITERIA - Routine kinds of news events, whether or not tragic or widely reported at the time – are usually not notable. XYZ1233212 (talk) 01:44, 21 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. A news story, not a subject of sustained secondary analysis. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 🛸 04:03, 21 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to 2025 in Texas#August. I disagree with A. B.'s proposed redirection and believe that the section dedicated to the shooting in the Target article should be deleted as well. This isn't an instance where a ___location has its own dedicated article, this is an incident that happened at a single Target store among many stores. The El Paso shooting for instance, is mentioned in the Walmart article because the shooting changed company policy. Raskuly (talk) 02:11, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Per WP:Crime the circumstances of this crime are unusual - suspect claiming to be Jesus and found naked clutching a bible. One of the victim's was transgender so this case is getting discussion in the LGBTQ community and there is criticism of the police for deadnaming & misgendering the victim. I think it is simply too soon to delete the page and perhaps we should wait to see whether on going coverage continues. I believe the unusual circumstances of this shooting make it stand out from other crimes. Inexpiable (talk) 18:19, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per reasons put forward by @Inexpiable. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 09:54, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Restored following the AfD two months ago. I've done a new WP:BEFORE search and still can't find any sources that show WP:GNG or WP:BASIC. His achievements don't meet WP:ANYBIO. References found all seem to be press releases and/or unreliable. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 21:24, 19 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep – The subject has significant coverage in independent, reliable sources beyond routine announcements. Examples include VoyageHouston (2017 profile), Click2Houston (2020 news article), Defender Network (multiple features, 2019–2020), and BlackBusiness.com (2019 article). His company’s repeated recognition on the Inc. 5000 list and authorship with ForbesBooks demonstrate notability under WP:GNG and WP:NBIO. Article should be improved, not deleted. Some of these sources were already mentioned in the previous discussion. I'm not sure if the new ones are enough to change consensus. I'll ping the people that reviewed the sources 2 months ago to see if this is now acceptable. @Asamboi:, @Mekomo:, @Oaktree b:, @Mooonswimmer:, @Bearian:, @Gheus: - if the new sources do address the concerns from 2 months ago, I'll withdraw the AfD.
